Where?

All over the shop. More fences, more hedges, more tents, pretty much all of the greenfields, theatre and circus, the railway line, loads of spots. The arena at download is one massive dustbowl with barely a scrap of shade anywhere.

Fair do, I thought you meant around where there are acts on.

There isnt anything anywhere when you want to watch an act. (Unless you are in a boiling hot tent)

@FuzzyDunlopif it's even a smidgen over 18c you are more than welcome to come and use our awning/gazebo to sit in the shade if you're struggling. Seriously, can't have you dying in 19c temperatures. That wouldn't be very Glastonbury spirit. Be a darl and watch the kids for us while you're there though so we can carry on raving.... thanks 😜

Onto the 06Z. Are we going to continue with the positive theme?

GATES OPEN

Well, fair to say this run brings the most apocalyptic rain for Monday, and would absolutely do serious damage to site. 20-25 mm in the morning, followed by another 10mm, would definitely not be a good thing!

Lighter rain through the rest on Monday, and then dry through Tuesday. Highs of 20 degrees, which is excellent for drying for site recovery.

When the gates open on Wednesday it's dry and 17 degrees.

The position of the low at this stage of the run is more threatening, looks at big old Grotbags on the left.

But the high pressure still looks to be on the winning side as the chart is developing.

Wednesday stays completely dry with highs of 20. Again, great drying conditions.

THURSDAY

High pressure doesn't build in today, but it holds its position against the doom of the low.

A dry day with highs of 21.

FRIDAY

The high is still in a strong position, without any finger presence. But it's building.

Completely dry with highs of 22.

SATURDAY

Here comes the finger! Completely dry with highs of 23.

SUNDAY

Completely dry, max temps of 21.

SUMMARY

The level of rain on Monday has the potential to cause real issues ... but the festival itself is pretty much spot on and the temperatures would mean the site would dry up very quickly.

Ideally we definitely need less rain a couple of days before the gates open, but this is another excellent run for the festival.

But the trend for a fingering is continuing now through several runs.

What does the rain measurement mean? Is that mm per hour or mm for the entire 3 hour period that each slide covers?

Because, unless that is mm per hour, then that Monday rain still falls into the category of ‘moderate shower’ for the morning and ‘light shower’ for the afternoon.

We had a pretty bad storm here yesterday, serious rainfall, my tree was struck by lightning and is now lying across picnic benches. 😞 Streets were fast flowing rivers, flash flooding everywhere, way more than 50mm fell in the space of 2 or 3 hours. But the mud in the fields is still rock hard and cracked, it just ran off.

That Monday rain isn’t necessarily an issue. (Unless it is per hour, then that would be pretty damn bad!)

Why would they publish outliers? Why isn't the operational run just the average of all simulations?

Because that could be more misleading and the warning that, for example, storms are possible is more useful than the average that says dry.

This is taken from 2017 on the Wednesday. People running to shade like ants to honey. Just, please not 30+.

Also, photographic evidence of there being shade at the main stages 😉

That might be the Royal Blood crowd if it’s sunny at the Pyramid when they’re on.

This run is showing almost no rain at all after gates opening and a massive fingering bringing temps up to mid 20s into the weekend proper.

I'm on pocket Kings, do I stick or twist?

If it was just money at stake, I'd say twist all day long with pocket kings however Glastonbury weather is a currency of much higher value than the £, so I say stick.
