Fine if thats on the table, but this is local politics, that choice of coalition will presumably mean policy decisions that will have negative consequences for some Edinburgh residents who find themselves in a position of economic insecurity. It really beggars belief. It is also manna from heaven for the SNP's press office. Just that they go into coalition is bad enough, but when it all inevitably goes tits up, it will be even better for them.

sure, but it rarely is just about local politics, like with recent council elections in England, and I guess Labour don't want to be seen as working with SNP, ever.

It's quite sweet really that labour are still playing by the rules in this post truth world. If it was Johnson who was mayor and wanted to be leader do we think he or his team would give a toss about any rules or conventions that might stand in his way?

It's a good example of what Ozanne discussed a few weeks back about how labour feels it has to be seen to act beyond reproach because they are the alternative to the establishment; the tories can, and do, what they like.
