His speech a few days prior to the 2014 independence referendum swayed a lot of people. No matter what your politics were he set out the economic realities that we would face, the glaring omissions and inaccuracies of the snp fiscal plans rather that the flag waving, rhetoric and soundbites Salmond was coming out with.  
Not a politician who fits in with the modern media friendly style we expect now. He made mistakes like not being more vocal in opposing Blair over Iraq but a lot better than most of the shallow publicity seeking individuals we now see in Westminster.

I think so too...I think one thing keeping him in place is there doesn't seem to be a ready replacement...Sunak not ready, Truss not sure, Hunt not brexity enough etc.

Apart from the dodgy chaos in government under Johnson...we are also becoming a much more authoritarian country with new police/border bills. He needs to fuck off.

I think yes but it won't be an easy one for him by any means.
