I said it in here the other day but I think Starmer's big issue at the moment is that he's not seen as being genuine. There's too much of his public persona that looks contrived. He was at his strongest during the brexit negotiations when you could see he was passionate about what he was fighting for. He doesn't have that same passion as Leader of the Party and it shows.

Burnham has, at least, that "man of the people" aura about him, certainly since he's been mayor if not before, so it gives him a fighting chance.

Plus, like you say, he's northern.

There are people there but I don't think they should be looking at changing leader, they need to focus on putting together policy ideas that appeal to the public.

yeah...I mean, I like him. I voted for him this morning. But I just can imagine everyone slagging him off 6 months after he becomes labour leader because he isn't left/centrist enough.
