Personally speaking I feel more relaxed out and about compared to last year when we came out of lockdown 1, that’s probably partly due to feeling more normalised to the virus but it’s a good sign.

That’s great, and I’m the same too (although have been fairly relaxed throughout really).
I think this type of message from scientists is what is needed now, to try and encourage those who are anxious, that it’s going to be ok when we ease of this further. With explanations of why it’s going to be ok etc.

Yeah I agree. Don’t get me wrong I’ll sometimes still be a bit worried walking past someone and try to give space but I’m not as bad as I was at the beginning.

I’ve just seen a news alert saying the R rate is back above 1.

Everyone stop what you’re doing. It’s back to the bunkers for us 😂

Case numbers down but R back above 1?

ONS infection data also showing a 40% decline.

I’m confused.

And its a rate of decline between -0.4 to -0.1%. Basically, its still going down but slower.

Seems pointless them printing that TBH

Vaccine side effects...  I had jab at 5pm yesterday...

So far so good...  Hour after injection arm felt a little swore and I felt a bit tired but soon perked up.

Today I feel like I have a very mild cold.  Nothing to stop  me doing most things but enough for me to not bother with my daily gym visit.

Just wondering if its going to get worse lol 😄

You seem to be on a similar trajectory to me. If you are that means starting to feel worse as today goes on, pretty lethargic by evening, and the the most vivid but incredibly mundane dreams tonight.

Aren’t we at that stage again where the levels of the virus are so low, that the R becomes somewhere irrelevant and not a meaningful tool to measure by?

True but I just can’t fathom how certain calculations come up with an outcome which seems to be at odds with the real world data.

Basically if you've got a low number of cases then a single additional case is a greater proportional increase than it would be if there were a lot of cases.

If you've got 100 cases, an additional case is a 1% increase.

If you've got 50 cases , that additional case becomes a 2% increase.

Same principle applies to R number, albeit a slightly more complex calculation.
