That looks fantastic. Really fancy the Sri Lanka one.

"The engines on our Sri Lankan beasts are an impressively pathetic 10.5bhp. They have tiny wheels, shite ground clearance and bad suspension. They have no real protection from the elements, and they're incredibly unreliable."

I've been to India twice before. Once driving around the southern tip from Chennai to Goa (Palolem), and then a family trip to Goa (Arambol).
This time I fancied something more extreme! Gangtok (on the Himalayas) to Kochi is pretty damn extreme! Have watched plenty of YouTube vids by others who've done it and it looks fantastic.

Imodium at the ready!

friend of mine got pretty ill in India and he said at one point he was naked with jet streams of godknowswhat coming out of both ends.

Encouraging disclaimer!

Your chances of being seriously injured or dying as a result of taking part are high. Individuals who have taken part in past adventures have been permanently disfigured, seriously disabled and even lost their life.

I know right! Challenge accepted! 🤣

My team all met at Glasonbury - Our team name is going to be The Slumdog Piltonaires. Hoping to get our Rickshaw covered in Glasto drawings incl pyramid stage. Thinking of asking Kate Chidley for some artwork (cows a speciality - will go down well in India)

Yeah, I had that one in Thailand. Weirdly after going to quite an expensive (like £5!) pizza restaurant (didn't have any issues from the street food!). Luckily we were in really nice accommodation. My ex went down with similar in a beach hut with ants everywhere.

Japan for me when possible - did a couple of days in Osaka and 4 in Tokyo as part of a larger SE Asia trip (a last minute add-on when finishing up in Vietnam and we realised how close it was, and hadn't yet booked our tickets home anyway). Want to explore it a lot more.

Get over there for the olympics this summer!

Looks great, I did the Mongol Rally with The Adventurists a few years ago and it was the greatest experience of my life by a mile.

I looked at the Mongol Rally too. On my 'to do' list!

hahaha even in normal times I'd be avoiding cities when the Olympics are on like the plague (no pun intended but I'm leaving it in as morbid humour...)

I did end up going to Tokyo during their "Golden Week" when everybody was off work, so it was insanely busy.

In Bali we got the dreaded "Bali belly" about 2 weeks in. Ate at what seemed like an ok bar, but in retrospect the potato croquettes were a little grey and tasted very garlicky. We just wanted a little snack while having a beer but we paid for it for about a week afterwards. Absolutely miserable times

yeah, stupidly hot in August too, I really don't know why they don't postpone a few months. My missus is Japanese so I've been a few times...very handy having someone with you who speaks the language! Amazing country though.

I don't think I got ill at all in Bali, despite eating meat.

I think the worst one was in the Mekong Delta. I went down with it bad in a hotel where the owner had semi threatened to kill me after I had the temerity to ask him if we could rent some of the mountain bikes they wrongly advertised as owning on their website. I think he was trying to show off to the two girls on the reception desk. But he then panicked when he realised I was about a foot taller than him. Nice guy.

CTM seem pretty dodgy. They have mopped up the contract both for the hotel quarantine and for the Covid booking.

At the moment you can't get through to them, the day 2 tests are not arriving in time for day 2 and last night you couldn't book the tests at all - this was the message shown.

We have 3 of her works on the wall in our hallway , one is cows enjoying the cider bus, always makes me smile when I walk past it.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
