(And bless the scientists, but all their predictions seem to be modelled on people actually following the rules, we're ignoring the behavioural side entirely)

They always said from day one that the lockdowns had a shelf life and people would eventually stop complying. You could have a more enforced lockdown, but they don’t have the manpower to do that nor would it tie in with cultural norms in this country.

Or - more likely - with each new easing of rules, people start to lose discipline...

But fundamentally people aren't following the rules because there's been:

- feeble leadership

- feeble and often contradictory messaging

When leaders aren't respected, chaos is the result.

im not totally sure ... I will find out further details on Fri ... I think you will be able to reserve your place in the virtual q without being at the store by using a mobile phone .... its been trialled at 50 stores I think ..... wish it had happened earlier so customers could get used to it elsewhere ... surprised it wasnt trialled in the leeds stores though ..... some on here may have already tried it though ....

I don’t shop at weekends anyway. It’s complete carnage in my local store then. I haven’t noticed any signage saying anything different though. It is on a shared site with a few other stores though so they can’t reserve the car park for Asda use only.

Well not really. I’d much rather be even further down. But I’m glad we aren’t the highest in Europe anymore. Hopefully we will move further down as the impact of vaccines prevent the death toll from rising too much further.

I appreciate Johnson has already turned PMQs into a joke, but they shouldn't be. Especially not in the middle of two national crises. Starmer using his last question to have a "final day of term" laugh at Johnson's expense... I'd have much rather seen him rise above it all that score cheap points.

To me this looks like two privileged powerful people having a bit of a laugh together. While thousands die and we wait for economic ruin on 1 Jan.

will be carnage next week anyway as the run up always with fresh food ... and now many stores have limited opening hours which will condense how busy it is ..... id imagine sat sun will be quieter and mon  tue wed will be progressively busier . Christmas eve is usually quieter but availability won't be so good ...... best time of day for me id say if the shops open at 6 am would be around 7am after initial rush and  queue has gone from the keen people .... and probably the best time to get what you want too .... This time of year its impossible to get the stock one the shelves fast enough ... buy what you can this week and just leave the fresh items till that last shop ...

My Sunday morning hangover disagrees with you. I’m quite happy with my routine, I don’t mind popping in a couple of times a week on the way back from work. Having to book a slot will annoy me though.
