As sad as this is for the family, thousands of others had to grieve at home/alone due to the rules he helped set out.

Frankly if that's the excuse, it actually looks worse. Again, thousands have lost people over the last few months and not been able to be with their family.

Yes 100% makes it worse. With children there is the possibility for a little bit of ambiguity, but with a death, well, as sad as it is for the many that have had to grieve in such an undignified fashion, nobody’s welfare (the child) is at risk from that.

she's also attempting to save some face ... but yes thats quite strong for her

Well, he literally made a fool of her again, and worse, she must know he's lying because he originally told her he went to his parents, which she tweeted as a 'source says' . Next day he changed his story to sister. So now she knows he's lying (that it was his parents not his sister) but can't say because of 'protecting sources'

This really is a huge story. Ministers and backbenchers pissed that they've been forced to defend him and since been bombarded with messages from fucked off constituents. They've so misjudged this one and completely misread the mood of the country.

Anyone beginning to think Cummings knows a few things about Johnson that Boris would rather remain hidden? Might explain this incredible situation.

Aye it crossed my mind earlier. We all knew Cummings had quite a frightening level of power for an unelected advisor but the lengths they're going to do lead you to think there's something else at play. It's doing a real number on their reputation after they ended up with a such a strong majority. It's utterly needless and I think that's why backbenchers are so pissed off.

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
    • It's certainly gone more that way, but then they went completely in the opposite direction and had Cat Stevens.
    • Chaka can, or Chaka can't?
