Reckon he’s going to announce that they’re relaxing lockdown and people can now go and see family and friends and get together in gardens . Maybe announce pubs to open in June too.

He likes to give the good news himself and will want to distract from Cummings as much as he can.

Still hope Cummings will go though . Depends how much pressure comes from the back benchers and if the Mirror has an ace up it’s sleeve.

When Boris announces an internal inquiry (I don't think it's an 'if' sadly) I desperately hope the public, media and opposition continue to kick up a storm - because that will absolutely not solve anything. Everyone remember the Russia inquiry?

He's just going to announce an inquiry I bet and dodge any questions.

That's looking like the strategy, buying time and hope it blows over, the thing is in normal times a political figure doing the wrong thing is only of interest to people who follow politics, in this circumstance EVERYONE in the country has been affected by this and they can see he has clearly taken the piss. If they just carry on they will lose the goodwill of the public and a lot of Tory supporters too. Any inquiry can't alter the facts and people already know what happened.

Wow. A small part of me admires the stubbornness but a much larger part of me thinks he's an absolute twat.

They can't relax lockdown till June 1st, they explicitly stated it over and over again.

Oh I know, just felt like pointing it out.

They will be trying to 'dead cat' us in this briefing, so watch out for it.

Johnson doesn't like to follow rules either, he probably thinks Cummings as cool as fuck and will hope this blows over in a few days...and maybe it will.

It worked when Boris prorogued parliament illegally and when it was confirmed Vote Leave broke the law.

Incredible! 😁 just thinking about what it’s like for us on the way to the festival, especially after driving the length of the M74 and M6! And the hordes of festival goers at the last two service stations (Michaelwood?) before leaving the motorway for Glasto.

yeah sawces on twitter saying boris hasn't sacked him, instead he will be saying why he hasn't

He'll be making allowances for that weren't there at the time. It's one rule for them and another for us.

    • Maybe you need a groovy mayor who can get you the money.   Anyway, looks like mayors going to get a whole load of fiscal devolution and greater powers...so best everyone gets one, a decent one, and get a load of Madchesterism.

    • Another great weekend with family and friends.  We spend most of our time between Obelisk, and second stage due to having young children.  Overpass, Florence Road, Nathan Evans, David Byrne and Alex James were the highlights for me.  Quite enjoyed a dance to Gok Wan on the Saturday too.   Certainly feeling the Latitude blues this week and looking forward to next year.   Also looking forward to all the predictions for next year in the 2027 chat.   Hope everyone had a great festival.
    • How much is Burnham's success down to Manchester getting a shitton of investment for public transport infrastructure?   There's no doubt he did the work, but the money dumped into Manchester for him to achieve that was huge - the most of any infrastructure project outside London ever. Did that need a mayor, or just the money?
