Glastonbury secret sets 2020

Can’t imagine why Madness would do a secret set. They may just play but I’d have thought they’d want the publicity.

Isn’t it the case there’s fewer secret sets in the last couple of years that before, as the festival said it’s harder to keep it controlled, risking over-crowding as social media makes it ever easier for word to get around? 
 

Was there anyone who didn’t know The Killers were playing JP?

Yeah, the people who waited to show up  late. I got to JP during King Gizzard and was able to get a spot on the barrier still. Lots of people dont want to believe it til it really happens so they wouldnt want to hedge their bets.

15, 17 and 19 were decent for secret sets, 16 was quiet.

I think they are just more careful with secret sets, lady gaga wont be popping in the SE corner anymore but there will still be stuff of park, JP etc where they can control the crowd much better. Still loads of small and big secrets, its the kind of the middle ground which has died out.

they did a secret set in Lost Vagueness one year - as well as playing the main stage.

yeah, there was. I was in the interstage area a short while before they played, and got asked by someone who the secret act was.

Amusingly, the guy who asked me was Dick Vernon, who was retired by then but used to run GF's Glastonbury Town office and was one of the very few full-time employees of the festival for 20-ish years - so exceedingly well connected. But perhaps he hadn't bothered to ask anyone about it until we were chatting.
