makeyourtransition
Evening all, A few of us are heading down to Glastonbury at the weekend. We’re planning to walk around the site first and then enjoy some pints / dinner in town. Does anyone have any recommendations? Best pub for a pint? Easiest place to park for a site visit? Nice place for dinner? Any tips welcome! We’ll share some pics from the site afterwards.

Earth_pig
The crown in Pilton has tasty food but nothing fancy. The rifleman's and the king Arthur in Glastonbury town have nice pints and usually some good live music, saw Mick Jaggers brother band playing in beginning of Feb was pretty good. The sheppney which is a drive away had delicious food . Edited February 20, 2020 by Earth_pig

Supernintendo Chalmers
The George & Pilgrims Inn is lovely and very old. The Who'd A Thought It Inn is very quirky and fun. Both in Glastonbury town.

Sitting in the house looking out at the Scottish hail and wind I get so jealous of anyone who can pop down and visit the site ! Park at the skatepark, pay homage to the puddle at Mary’s gate, take plenty photos, walk all the way up to Strummerville path and the WV steps. The Crown in the village does nice food. In Glastonbury town we usually eat in the who’d a thought it but other pubs close by are also good. If in a hurry fish and chips from Knights chippy. I get excited just typing this! Edit! And the apple tree as funkychick just mentioned! Edited February 20, 2020 by Ayrshire Chris

pilton digger
The Apple Tree is has ceased trading and is closed.
deebeedoobee
Stay away from Steanbow end of the railway track. Clay pigeon shoots are on at the weekend. The road behind the Pyramid is gated off. The Crown dies a wonderful Sunday roast but best to book. Best food in Glastonbury is at Rainbows End

I've not been in for some months but had noticed it looked a little closed-up / fenced off, but thought that was just the time I was passing / to stop people sleeping in the carpark. Earth_pig
We visited the Tor for the first time this February on the way back we heard bongo drums playing in the White spring, so we entered into the candle lit watery cavern and to my surprise there was 4 nude people dancing to the bongos in the water, it was surreal but we had a great trip, such a magical place. Give us a wave from the pyramid field or clamber up Pangea! Big brother is watching, so remember, no peeing on the land no matter how many pints you have had in the Crown!
