2021 Headliners

Whilst I get that argument I think there’s an element we’re forgetting - Emily said they were already talking to some acts about 2021 way before COVID. Gorillaz seemed to announce a series of 2021 dates in a flurry mid-pandemic, which makes me think they always planned to do a 2021 festival tour.

My guess is that they were already pencilled in for Glasto prior to COVID. So it’s putting them into the right slot/a good slot that becomes vacant.

Easy to shift the headliners around to fit what’s needed if Dua is moved.

for instance I’d suggest moving Fatboy opposite Macca.  Then either PSB or Gorrilaz (if booked) opposite Kendrick and Dua

I think they’ll go for a younger act to fill any vacant OS slot left by Dua if that’s what happens, and I don’t see it being Gorillaz for that reason. Something like Disclosure makes far more sense, and I’m sure there are a ton of other options, possibly even another bump up from the 2020 lineup.

Royal Blood and Twenty One Pilots are both around.

I’m not sure if they’re big enough to headline Other but maybe Wolf Alice? We did hear that they were offered that slot in 2019 and they would fit with promoting women in headline slots which they did seem to be aiming for across the main stages this year.

They’ve dropped off the radar a little. Played Pilton Party in 2019 which is pretty much a confirmation for the following year but were conspicuously absent from the poster. They’ve been meant to be having an album ready for over a year now too (although COVID may have banjaxed that).

If they get their next album out by Spring then there’s no reason they couldn’t. Are they any smaller than Alt-J for instance?

🚨 Ken in the Rock Werchter thread says that they are talking and close to signing a huge headliner. 🚨

The clue he gave was ‘stadium sized’.

People think this is someone who has never played RW before.

Was that not in relation to an act System of a Down fans would like?

More worryingly, people in the Rock Werchter thread saying Muse are being announced for a festival in France the weekend after Glastonbury.

OK OK, let's just calm down a little.

We need a list of who this could be. Is it someone who doesn't already have shows announced for next year?

Muse played last year tho. Ken seems to hyping this up though so I doubt it will be a standard RW band.

I refuse to believe there’s a stadium band out there that is a soad alternative. I think he’s talking about two different bookings.

Meh. They already played Pyramid last album and I like acts going from stage to stage.

I agree but I think Royal Blood would be good for the Sunday pyramid sub slot. If not this year but another year.

They do like to put a ‘band’ in that slot. Vampire Weekend, Biffy Clyro, The Black Keys etc.

Hardest slot to pull off at the whole festival I reckon.

No reason why not but I don’t think that is by design but just because most subs - and acts in general - are bands.

    • Hey everyone! My friend and I are heading over from Sweden to Tramlines this summer. We had our eyes on a bunch of different festivals in the UK, but since most of them sold out before we even knew if we’d be able to make the trip, we finally settled on Tramlines. Why Tramlines, you might ask? Well, because we’re absolutely crazy about British music, and finding a festival like this (where you also don’t have to camp, a huge plus) made it impossible not to buy a ticket. The fact that I’ll also get to see The Enemy after beeing a fan for 19 years didn’t hurt either.   Since the app doesn’t work over here… is the Clashfinder schedule 100% accurate? What’s the venue like, and what does the map look like? Which sides of the stages are best to stand on? How long does it take to walk between stages? What are the prices usually for food and drinks? Is it easy to get to the festival from town? And is it easy to get back into town? Is it allowed to walk around with a beer anywhere in the venue, or are there those stupid fenced-off bar areas? As you can tell, I need all kinds of info, so please share your best tips and tricks to make this the best festival experience possible.  I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance! 😃
    • A whole year of this!  What a time to be alive! This is going to be an incredible playlist.
    • Sorry matey.  Always a nightmare when you have a plan and something scuppers it.   Happy myself, fills a nice little gap for me. Lucky so far really.     I’d have preferred an alternative too to break up the 21 pilot set but shan’t complain
    • Happy with the name, unhappy with what it did to the lineup. Now I have to choose between Florence Road and Beirut 😞 and still no alternative to 21p.
    • Odd and rare for RW indeed! I even remember reading in the past that one of the reasons for certain bands not appearing there, were similar demands being rejected. It’s weird that they play after Gorillaz and even more weird that there won’t be an alternative. All they had to do was push Pixies to later.
