I remember in I think either 2015 or 2016 he opened the Other on the Saturday? Field was absolutely rammo for that time

Yup, he agree'd to take a much earlier slot as he was playing a solo show at his mums festival (glorified school fate) that evening, so it shows he will take slots just to be on the bill. I think a 3rd/4th from top on the Other stage would be a really good spot for him. I can feel the clashes already.

Yeah it was baking hot too but a good way to get the day going. 

I get the impression he's not too diva about where he plays on the bill, and he's certainly plateaued (of not peaked). Perhaps selfishly I'd like to see him do a similar slot again.

Avalon headline set last year was an incredible atmosphere, safe to say a festival set list so not necessarily what I'd have chosen but you can't k knock him for that. I'd like a late afternoon set on The Other or Pyramid this time.

He was headlining a small festival or something elsewhere that evening I believe which is why he played so early.

Friday night was a clashterfuck of horrible proportions for me.  IDLES or Dub Pistols, Jon Hopkins or Frank Turner. Still brings me out in sweats.

Only saw/heard Frank three times last year, it was not enough, sadly missed the Greenpeace gig. Strummerville was great, Avalon was epic and the BBC Introducing gig was fun and actually seemed to be relatively secret.

That Friday was one of my worst clashes I've had at the festival, Frank/Tame Impala/Jon Hopkins.

The next date that we've had any announcement is the 23rd of February. Which was Bruce in 2009 and U2 in 2011. We then have Foo Fighters from 2017 on the 24th.

A bit too much! That Friday night was one of the longest I've ever had at any festival, got back to my tent around 7am. I edited it just after you quoted!

What did you go for in the end? I went Hopkins, and although it was good it wasn't the right choice for a Friday night. Needed some bangers.

Ended up at Tame Impala. Great set but I think I wanted something a bit more.

This is intriguing. I ended up skipping both and going to Arcadia early but it also wasn't quite right.

Personally I "should" have gone for Frank Turner.  In as much as you "should" do anything at a festival.
