What happened to this guy? I keep seeing him mentioned but think he was before my time on here.

He's like Keyser Soze. One day and pfffff...he's gone.

He still lurks I believe but hasn't posted anything for some time, just left us hanging at 19,999 posts.

Known for taking very strong views over social commentary, and liberal use of c-bombs to describe all and sundry.  The bingo card was created to include his most popular choices - Bruce Dickinson, Tories, people in posh camping. Running a search atm to see if I've still got a copy or if I deleted it in my cleanout

Don't forget Brexit. Mind you you were relatively safe until you got to 100 posts after which you were fair game.

He's got an open invite to the left field and strummerville, can't see pyramid/other/park, maybe John Peel?

I could see him still pulling a decent crowd to the Other earlier on in the day and somewhere smaller later on.

His secret Strummerville set in 2010 is still one of my all time festival highlights.

I remember in I think either 2015 or 2016 he opened the Other on the Saturday? Field was absolutely rammo for that time

Yup, he agree'd to take a much earlier slot as he was playing a solo show at his mums festival (glorified school fate) that evening, so it shows he will take slots just to be on the bill. I think a 3rd/4th from top on the Other stage would be a really good spot for him. I can feel the clashes already.

He was headlining a small festival or something elsewhere that evening I believe which is why he played so early.

Edit: sorry, just seen responses above mine. I apparently hadn't refreshed...

Avalon headline set last year was an incredible atmosphere, safe to say a festival set list so not necessarily what I'd have chosen but you can't k knock him for that. I'd like a late afternoon set on The Other or Pyramid this time.

Friday night was a clashterfuck of horrible proportions for me.  IDLES or Dub Pistols, Jon Hopkins or Frank Turner. Still brings me out in sweats.

That Friday was one of my worst clashes I've had at the festival, Frank/Tame Impala/Jon Hopkins.

A bit too much! That Friday night was one of the longest I've ever had at any festival, got back to my tent around 7am. I edited it just after you quoted!

What did you go for in the end? I went Hopkins, and although it was good it wasn't the right choice for a Friday night. Needed some bangers.

Ended up at Tame Impala. Great set but I think I wanted something a bit more.

This is intriguing. I ended up skipping both and going to Arcadia early but it also wasn't quite right.

I wonder, what was the right choice for Fri last year?

Personally I "should" have gone for Frank Turner.  In as much as you "should" do anything at a festival.

    • I think it's a conscious decision this year not to publicize it beforehand. Not sure why. Maybe they have even removed the concept of a passport altogether and have something else... I like it because it helps me find parts of the program that don't function as slots in the timetable.
    • Still see Beach House with a new Album    and Tame Impala and The Strokes.
    • Yeah the rumour I heard is Glastonbury + Spurs stadium, the guy who posted it seems to be on the ball most of the time as well.   He's also now put one up for Sam fender summer shows
