Loved it on first listen and shows not to judge a band by its name Mmmmm ..... conflicted with this lot. Yes, it's good but ............ where does 'influenced by' become 'complete copy of'? I had a quick google and the ole music press aren't impressed.... “Greta Van Fleet sound like they did weed exactly once, called the cops, and tried to record a Led Zeppelin album before they arrested themselves.” "Greta Van Fleet are not rock ’n’ roll’s saviours. They’re riding in on a wave of Baby Boomer nostalgia, not reinventing guitar music." "They might as well call themselves Brass Hindenburg or Copper Airship. They’re a tribute band who happen to write their own songs." Still, they would be really fun live! Could they take the Blackberry Smoke slot on Avalon or are they already too big? Really enjoying them so far. Haven't listened to as much "new music" in the past two years compared to what I used to. Need to get back on it. Got massively into The War On Drugs in the last few months, and really enjoyed what I've heard of Janelle Monae recently - Good old efests! I think this is what we're supposed to think about them... https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/greta-van-fleet-anthem-of-the-peaceful-army/ "Greta Van Fleet sound like they did weed exactly once, called the cops, and tried to record a Led Zeppelin album before they arrested themselves. "They care so deeply and are so precious with their half-baked boomer fetishism, they mollycoddled every impulse of late-’60s rock‘n’roll into an interminable 49-minute drag." Edit: beaten to it, but the review's well worth a read. Edited January 10, 2019 by Hawros

Interesting analogies eh? Maybe I'm not thinking deeply or critically enough these days when I simply put my earphones in and enjoy a sound!

Amy Lawn
It's cringe af, just say the album is derivative. I give the review a 2/10.

dentalplan
I think Idles probably won the 2018 forum-wide collaborative aoty. Either that or it’s a rollover until the next National or Radiohead album.

Guest
I literally totted it up about 2 days ago and never posted it and now I've deleted the document so it was a pointless process ffs. Idles were by far first, with Arctic Monkeys in second and Parquet Courts a close third. Let's Eat Grandma, Young Fathers, Car Seat Headrest and Confidence Man were all in the top 10 too. As I tally it up by giving 10 points to first place, 9 to second etc. of each post, this time if someone's given 10 albums in no order I've just assigned 5 points to all 10 of them
