Biffy Clyro wouldn't really fit that description, does it? That band is touring literally every year and isn't exactly a big/huge act.

They're pretty big and a renowned live act though. Soulwax formed in '95 but they certainly don't fit that description any better.

I think that what the message in that forum meant is that the users of that forum were going to like tomorrow's announcment, not the general public. So probably Mogwai

On Azkena Forum they posted this:

Air.
Mogwai
Sufjan Stevens.
Biffy Clyro
The Black Eyed Peas
Blonde Redhead
Destroyer
Eels
HiM
Mogwai
Molotov
Morcheeba
Nickelback
Sleater-Kinney
Slipknot
Soulwax

Either Mogwai or Biffy, for sure. Sufjan would be dreamlike though

Yeah they're good but it's also a band you can see every year.

Sufjan however, an act that's almost never playing (EU) fests, would be a massive get. Could also fit on the lineup next to the National and Bon Iver.

But the thing "if you don't like tomorrow I don't know anymore" or whatever it was suggests it's something to shut those up who moaned about Bon Iver and The National.

Surely if it was Biffy either 27 or 57 would have been used?

Why what are those lol

Oh right. That's numberwang.

Also 9/15ths coulda been used. So you're right, it doesn't look as if it's Biffy.

Yeah was just writing exactly this. Reckon that's enough to rule them out of tomorrow's announcement. Doubt they've suddenly got lazy (or perhaps consciously less obvious) with it for a fairly big name one.

dunno if this is still the case but he used to be very picky about what festivals he did. He played End of The Road a few years ago and I think thats the only UK festival he's ever done. Supposedly they used to ask him every year if he wanted to headline and was finally convinced after receiving a hand writen request from the organiser's kid and after he visited the festival to scope it out.

The Dust Brothers changed their name to the Chemical Brothers in 1995.

That's my pick.

Great shout. Current line-up is crying out for a top-class electronic/dance act and they seem like a logical option. The line-up really doesn't need Biffy Clyro.

Are most people expecting Tool and the Pumpkins to be on the line-up?

They wouldn't announce Chems using a 1995 hint, I guess. The hint is always related to the year the band started, why would it refer to the year of a name change this time?

    • Had a lovely day in Prague now off to the festival. Very excited hope we all have fun regardless of weather!!
    • Iran are winning. If US aren't going to do the full invasion thing, then they may as well admit defeat and do what is needed to get the strait opened. Iran obviously have decided they can take any pain and stick it out as they have all the cards with this Hormuz thing. But obviously Trump can't admit defeat, and Israel just want this to keep going...and maybe it will carry on like this till after elections in both US and Israel towards the end of this year. God knows how the global economy will be by then.
    • All kicking off in N Ireland, all aided and abetted on videos that get circulated on social media and Elon Musk and Tommy Robinson telling people to take to the streets. Social media needs regulating same as publishers, if they have algorithms that push whatever to people then they are effectively publishers anyway. The problem is just going to get worse and worse.
