Thing is, 5000 people didn't brick the bus did they? Some idiots threw bottles, it was stupid, no need at all and it has taken the shine off the win but there where what, 20 or so that did?

it was more than a few who were throwing missiles. Utter fucking scum. This tie is not over yet. City have a history of getting beat at Anfield and Liverpool have a history of bottling it when it comes to the crunch.

Interesting piece of reading here if you click through. Seems the CFC fans already planning for Conte's exit and have their eye on this man.

Bigs up Jardim massively and many will argue that some good league finishes in France and Portugal don't make you one of the best managers in the world but when you read what he's done with the youth and transfers etc at Monaco it really is fascinating.

If Conte is to leave, I certainly wouldn't mind us taking a chance. It would be between Jardim and Allegri for me. Two very different directions though.

edit. just read that Tuchel will be the new PSG coach which is fine by me as I didn't fancy him at all.

Jardim seems like a great manager but is Chelsea really a club that is ever gonna bring through youth? Genuine question, how many players have been brought through the youth system into the first team in the Abramovic era? Plenty of youth seems to be bought and loaned out until they're sold but Chelsea always seems like a club that wants instant success over a building up a team over several years. Allegri seems much more in keeping with the Chelsea blueprint.

I think it being the final game at the ground amplified the criticism if anything.

Last night's antics were unruly and irresponsible by the fans responsible but ultimately will be framed in a wider context of an all-English Champions League quarter-final, with City being viewed by many as entirely unaccustomed to the raucous atmosphere Anfield can generate. Although it's clear that some fans overstepped the mark, the City players clearly seemed effected by the otherwise legitimate atmosphere inside and outside the ground, and it resulted in Liverpool producing one of the best performances by an English team in the Champions League for many a year.

West Ham's last game at the Boleyn was supposed to be a celebration their time at their beloved stadium, no? A valiant battle with Van Gaal's United for a Europa League spot? The idea that some West Ham fans felt the need to intimate United seems truly bizarre, it's not like they play at Old Trafford every other week. United didn't buckle under the atmosphere in the ground. Also the kick-off was delayed by 45 minutes and your co-chairman initially blamed United for turning up late.  On a supposed day of celebration for West Ham. A last huzzah for the fans. I can understand why a papers would deem this more noteworthy than the result itself. Two very different games in very different contexts. I don't see it as a bias against West Ham at all.

You can't brandish an entire fanbase c***5 due to the acts of the mindless few. The people who pelted the bus with stuff are idiots, plain and simple, the same as the West Ham fans who caused all the trouble a few weeks back. Every fan base has them - there were a couple of incidents with City fans throwing coins in recent years (one cutting Ferdinand IIRC and one hitting a supporter in the eye) which led to a prison sentence.

If the people who threw the bottles are caught they should be reprimanded.

Interestingly mate, I just read about one of our young full backs... Played with your lad Alexander Arnold (on the opposite flank) last year in the England U19 side. Obviously Trent is getting game time and developing this season. Our player is on loan at Charlton in League One.

It is what it is...  I suppose there are so many factors to consider but in short, no. I don't see anyone coming in, facing the pressure of immediate success and risking their job by focusing their attention on integrating the youth and building from the ground up. It's a nice idea and yeah, it would be great to see a youngster force his way into the team. For instance, I'm excited by Loftus Cheek but I don't hold much hope of it happening at CFC because I've seen so many prospects fall by the wayside.

And yeah I agree completely re Allegri and his proven track record. I think the board will go for him.

The last game was a celebration. That’s why there were thousands of supporters at the junction of Barking Road and Green St hours before the game, taking photos in front of the Champions statue, drinking at and outside the Boleyn (pub). 

They were not there in an organised pre planned ‘welcome’ of the opposition supporters coach like last night was.

When the Man Utd coach couldn’t get through very easily - due to the  large number of supporters lining the road (no barriers or escorts like there was in liverpool - weren’t pre planned you see...) - a few numbskulls threw some tinnies at the windows. 

Liverpool supporters in pre planned ‘welcome’ committee = unruly lovable scallies worthy only of small print inside paper.

West Ham supporters in spontaneous drunkeness = hooligan thugs worthy of front page news.

Where in my post did I mention hillsbrough? you won’t ever see me posting stuff derogatory stuff about the disaster. Guys on here who have seen my posts on here for years, would tell you I’ve never took the piss out of Hillsbrough quite the opposite.
