So, @Yoghurt on a Stick - are you going to try for the ball?

Hello stuartbert,

You really couldn't have asked that question at a more awkward time for me. In the last couple of days my wife has (yet again!) said that she no longer wants to go. Before we got married we made a pact that we would never spend a night apart, unless we had to be taken in to hospital for medical reasons. In the years that we have been together we have kept that pledge faithfully. This time around my wife has (also yet again) said that we should ignore the pledge and that I should go (ticket permitting). Now it may come as some surprise, but I am an honorable man when it comes to things like this ie. my word is my bond. Then guess what happens - my wife's brother (who I went to school with and 'grew up' with) texted me yesterday to say that he has fucked up as he went to pay the balance on his secured Glastonbury ticket but was 24 hours late, and has asked me if I can do any wizardry on this site to help get him a ticket. I told him that I would try. But how do I go around asking the good folk on here who said they would help me to help him only instead? To my mind he would have a greater chance of success if I asked people off here to get him and me a ticket. So, there I am mulling this over earlier today when me and the wife have a monumental fall out (this kind of thing really doesn't happen in our relationship normally). So, now we are not talking to each other. So, I can't say to her that to improve her brothers chances of getting a ticket it would probably need me to go as well. In fact, I can't currently discuss anything with her, let alone going to Glastonbury without her. So, I'm in a right pickle, to say the least.

On top of all of the above, I have a tremendous desire to go to the efests and NFR NFC meet ups. I often feel like a fraud on this site seeing as I haven't actually been to Glastonbury for years (although I've probably done over 20 Glastonbury's in total). Then guess what - there's yet another dimension to add to the equation. I hadn't said anything about it because I feel a little embarrased about it. The 'it' is that I am missing a fair few teeth now. You really can't orally take the amount of drugs that I take (daily for about the last 4 to 5 years) and get to keep your teeth. Oddly enough, owing to some strange quirk, I am entitled to free dentistry because I have an under active thyroid. It's just that I haven't sought treatment because I no longer care about what I look like to my wife, family and friends. I really have all but given up on vanity. That said, I'm not sure that I'd feel comfortable rocking up to meet 'new' people at Glastonbury. Maybe I'd be Ok, maybe I wouldn't. Fuck knows.

Anyway, this is now turning in to a War & Peace type epic, so will stop writing soon. What do you think you would do if you were faced with all that lot? That question goes to anybody else reading this I guess too.

I'm still quietly annoyed that having organised our extended friendship group into 4 groups of 6, making a noice looking spreadsheet in the process, the group I was in was the only one not get tickets.

Yeh, that sucks.... I hope they're all helping you this time round!?

I would make up with my wife and convince her to go quick sharp!

A pickle indeed. Do you think that, prior to said argument, she meant it when she said you should go without her? If she did, then (assuming you make up ok) I think you should go to keep your brother-in-law company :)

Say you need a break, go glastonbury, and then win her back with your charm and wit. You don't break your pact due to a break clause, you go to glastonbury, and you get the girl, Win-win....

Or like Stu said, go make up with her pronto, and get back in her good books.

Thinking about it, the second option is probably the one to go for,

Then if you do eventually feel confortable going without her the option is there, and if not buy some strobe and disco lights, take some drugs and watch it on telly.

im in a quandary, but nothing like as complicated as Yog's.

I'm firmly of the 'Wednesday is the best day' opinion, but let's not start that civil war again.

thing is, here's my question, do I go for coach tickets, knowing that if I get them, I'll arrive later than I would prefer. Or do I hold off for the Sunday resale and just go for that. It's pickle, alright

Big ask I know but is there any chance I can get some help without helping in return? I'm running the london marathon on Sunday (for charity, so it's a noble cause!) and obviously will have no chance of being on a computer or phone. I'd usually not even ask but I'm looking at going solo so can't really ask friends and my parents/partner will be in London as spectators so won't be much good in trying for tickets.

Any help or advice appreciated!

It's better to be there for a little less time, than not be there at all.

I'd hedge my bets and go for the coach, failing that the main re-sale.

Saw someone ask on the first page but no one answered from what I can see.

This will be my first time trying for people in the resale. Can you still buy tickets in groups of 6 like the first sale or does it work differently?

Usually a limit of 4 in the resale

I would obviously love to be there as early as possible but at this stage I'm not going to be picky. I will be trying for any and all tickets possible.

I know that the general sale is normally 4 maximum in the resale, but I can't remember whether Coach is the same or less (as there are less coach tickets on offer). Frustratingly they havent confirmed any of this info and have not replied to any questions people are asking about it on twitter.

I've posted this on the NFR NFC thread, and thought it best to post here too, so that those who need to know the situation know the situation;

Hello again all,

Forgive me for not responding to you individually, but things really are mental this end. Much more mental than I have gone in to. The good news is that me and Mrs Yog are alright again. That didn't take long. We have also agreed that I should try for tickets for me and her brother in the re-sale. I get H.M.V's point about the number of people who have offered me help and that two others could be tagged on to the potential purchase. The only thing negating that is that I'll only have enough money to buy the two tickets, which effectively means it's a non runner for others unless they pay and I pay them back. It's a little too mind blowing for me right now with all this other stuff going on. Thoughts on a way forward anyone?

Hi Yog. Over the years I have been attending the efests meets, I have gone from increasingly gappy teeth to full on gummy. I did get some NHS dentures made, but I didn't last a week with them. It was like walking around with a billiard ball constantly in my mouth (I'd imagine), I couldn't open my mouth properly with them in and they made me look like a horse. I was never much bothered what I had looked like when gappy (well, I thought my metal peg looked a bit badass), so gummy wasn't that big of a stretch tbh. I am of the opinion that the sort of people who give you "the sneer" and make all sorts of judgements, solely based on appearance when they first encounter you, are probably not the most pleasant of people anyway.

Well done for making the peace and for agreeing that you can go.  My other half is delighted to do the same, she goes to Cornwall, has been to Glasty plenty and doesn't miss it.

Not sure if this is allowed and may be frowned upon but is there anything to stop you registering again and trying for both sales with different reg numbers?

Try for coach sale with one reg, if successful great you've got that at least and try for the normal resale with another registration number and then cancel the coach ticket if you get one then?

Don't hedge your bets mate, just get in.  I went for a coach ticket this year, but was also trying for friends in the general sale on the Sunday.  I got mine on the Thursday; none of us got a sniff on Sunday.  Here endeth the lesson.

I'll try for you, as it stands I'll be free that morning, As for paying for it, I'd suggest you putting the funds either on a prepay credit card or opening up an account you won't use again in the future, that way you know you are only risking me running off with £228 or whatever it is, and I then don't have the details of an account you use regularly and I'm covered from any future accusations of theft if you have money go missing in the future.

obviously none of the above would actually happen but we should both cover our own arses, and I'd also suggest you use whatever account you set up at least once before resale day to reduce the risk of anything blocking the payment.

Let me know if you are interested.
