F****g gutted.

Oh well, 2020 it is then for the 50th anniversary. Deservedly so, too.

If they get an album out around then, I’m not convinced that they will get back into the old cycle of churning one out every two years

Yeah I know, that part wasn't really in regard to just Glasto. People had suggested things like IOW for the iconic June festival which would be unlikely if they're not doing a full on European tour.

My next message was about IOW being the only UK based one I could think of (£££) but he left me on read ?

Hahaha, to be fair I think something like Bonnaroo seems more likely. They could easily have done IOW this year if they wanted to (unless it clashed with other dates). They did all the early Summer European fests this year so doing American ones (or just one) seems more likely than a random festival like IOW. Could have seen them making an exception for Glasto, though.

True, as she was attached to the film in Aug 16 and the NME interview was Oct 16. Though she could have just said no to the Glasto rumour given she’s not in the Glasto filming. It’s clear now 2017 was never on the cards as they were filming for ASIB at that time. Had there been a 2018 festival, her Vegas residency would have stopped it happening.

Emily did give an interview after the 2017 festival to say 2019 booking was already underway.

Not beyond the realms of possibility she was approached in 2016 for 2017, said no due to filming and pencilled in for the next festival?

I suspect a personal appearance from her as well as/instead of Bradders was on the cards at the time.

No I don't think they will either.

They could of course still be asked, regardless of a new album.

Reckon they're as ruled out as Arctic Monkeys are. We've got a proven ITK in the R&L section saying they're headlining there (which is the most obvious booking in festival history anyway) and someone who's met Matty Healy and been told they're not doing Glasto.

    • Yesterday was was Primavera is all about and a reminder of why I come back every year. I saw 9 acts, very diverse in terms of genre and vibe, and most of them were great.  Highlights:   The Cure - have wanted to see them for years. Finally caught them and it was immaculate. Robert Smith's vocals at his age are incredible. The band sounded exactly like the albums which is impressive. 2.5 hours with basically no filler somehow.  Viagra Boys - what a front man! So much energy. Non stop moshing. Sound was great, vibe was top notch. Again 10/10 for me.  Rilo Kiley - basically what pipan said. Not a huge crowd but nice vibe, good sound. Different from the other acts I saw.   I also enjoyed the late night electronic stuff with Aurora Halal and KI/KI being fun. Caught some of Skrillex before Aurora Halal and it was cool in it's own way but not really my thing so we left.
    • Dream Blink day    Blink - Turnstile - Neck Deep - The Story So Far
    • The vibe for Avalanches was spectacular, but i totally understand not wanting to wait in a queue for however long it was.   I had to miss Ethel Cain to queue. Bit annoying, but I had never seen the Avalanches before (either live or DJ set) and it was every bit as joyful as I hoped.   Great little stage, either way.
    • The Smashing Pumpkins are also a shout
