I know it seems like we're all chatting shit about random stuff on here, but it all comes back to Glastonbury in the end. Even in normal life, I'll compare the most inappropriate things to Glastonbury. Like when it rains on a Thursday but clears up for the weekend, I'll say "that's so 2008"

Or when there's nothing but landfill indie to listen to... "That's soooooo 2008".

Gorillaz were amazing and have to give a special mention to Danny Brown's set just before which was insane! Definitely wasnt prepared for the sun though and turned into a bit of a salmon

Good to hear :)

So now that Liam is definitely playing that Other slot, where do we reckon that this possible Gorillaz secret set (mentioned by Neil but not 100%) could be? Park?

Neil said it wasn't necessarily a TBA slot so could be anywhere tbh.

I hear you. I've still not fully recovered from the time time I compared my ex's sexual performance to Oasis's headline appearance in 2004.

I was there on Saturday.  Gorillaz were fantastic.  The whole event was pretty great really.  Nice crowd, no toilet queues, hardly any bar queues, amazing weather, lovely location.

Was there too, was a fantastic day!!

How credible are the Gorillaz rumours? Can I get excited or should I prepare for disappointment?

Not sure there is much more to it than 'they are active, Damon has been to Glasto before'. Am happy to be proved wrong though!

Yes was a great day, although did you try and get any food? queues were huge, took me 40 minutes to get a wrap

I have someone whispering in my ear that Gorillaz will be doing a secret set.

I can't guarantee that's right, tho the person telling me has a perfect (tho only recent) history, so i reckon it probably is.

the tip did include a suggestion of where (not necessarily a TBA slot), but I've chosen to not share that info in the interests of sanity, safety, and making sure what I say doesn't cause something to get cancelled.

Blimey, that is a long wait. I wonder whether it was a timing issue.  I got food just after De La Soul, so at about 5.15pm, from by the outdoor stage where they had some sword swallowers etc. Queued for less than 5 minutes.

I knew I didn't have much time for food in the Little Simz - Kano - Gorillaz run so ate early.  Maybe I missed the rush.

Brilliant day Saturday. On our way home now. I agree there could have been more food stalls. I am happy I saw them Saturday so if I was to miss a secret Glasto set I wouldn't be too disappointed, but if I manage to see them again I'd be buzzing

Yes i think you got your timings right, i checked out the various food options after De La Soul and there were hardly any queues, but later on every had either run out of a lot of stuff and/or had massive queues. I wasn't going to bother, but hadn't really had anything to eat all day and half way through Kano decided that i needed something to soak up the cider.

If they were to play what sort of set list do people expect them to play?  New album heavy i guess? Would they still play there bigger hits from the first 2 albums?

I'd expect 50/50 new/hits. Which wont allow for all of the hits of the first few, but they will be represented.

No evidence for that mind. Just my feeling after playing so much of their new album (and B Sides, bonus tracks etc) at recent shows that it's unlikely to be a hits show. At the same time Damon knows what he is doing, and how festivals work so a set balanced 50/50 makes sense. Still proud to show off his new stuff while giving the crowd some familiar stuff. It may also be influenced by what guests are on site and willing to perform as a guest.

    • My party again had an outstanding 4 days in Barca. We made the right call to leave the festival site early at about 10.30 on Thursday to get ourselves some excellent steaks in the city. I am with everyone that the organization should have been clearer about what is going on and also if you would like to get rid of some attendees open more exits, they sent us from gate to gate until we finally were able to get out. Biggest 'disappointment' was the beer price, a YoY increase from 5 to 6 is absolutely nuts!!! (i am living in Switzerland so me making this comment says something 🙂)   Top 10:   1. Men I Trust 2. Role Model (could have been first as well, what a great artist and great songs) 3. The XX 4. The cure (the last 90 minutes) 5. Gorillaz 6. MBV 7. Ninajirachi (another big miss of the organization, clearly on the wrong podium and wonder if Olivia's surprise set had something to do with that and they had to reschuffle late the Occident, Cupra and Port schedules) 8. NewDad 9. Big Thief 10. Annastashia      We did 3 years Barca now and for next year looking at the Porto or Bilbao festivals as an option.
    • Personally if it was me now, I would be grabbing a green camping ticket with the knowledge closer when I've refreshed that I can still choose general if I want to....you can't do the opposite!    I would say if you are happy to watch your headliners and big bands further back to be able to see who you actually plan to later then yes it is fine. Its a much difference experience to any other festival especially food wise and camping surrounds.    Once you're in the arena as well you're not going back unless you've got a gap. If I go again I'll be going with the option of not trying to push the front and enjoying further back as you actually put too much pressure on it than the time take away can forget to enjoy other acts.
    • No complaints about the sound. We were like 2nd set of steps facing stage right in like the middle row.
    • On the whole then, yay or nay...I've had a look on festivals united and there's people who seem converted by Rock Im Park, I can imagine it might be different if it was a washout as RaR is tarmac.   The hotel side would be more to convince the non campers if it's an option. On my first visit to rock am ring we were shuttled into the area where you could stick the car next to the tent which was fantastic as it meant zero lugging of camping gear.
