I broke my heel at the end of October and recovery is not going fantastically well so far, after an hour on my feet it is agony, however come hell or high water I'll be there, 5 more months to rest, recover and recuperate.   I'll be wearing a decent pair of boots and hopefully by then it will be fully fixed.

You could get a great pair of boots for 30 quid on sale. Thats what mine cost and they're worth 10 times that over the last 2 festivals.

Its not just the comfort in the feet, its the support for your back (much less Glasto back), and legs. Wellies are dreadful for that.

Hmmm ok, colour me intrigued.

Comfier than trainers if you're doing lots of walking.

In theory.

Buy my feet don't seem to mind wearing even cheap pumps/Converse the whole time and I don't notice when I'm drunk anyway. And in a slightly more vain note, I don't generally like the look of boots and they wouldn't go with any of my clothes so that's a bit off putting too.

Holy Cow David, didn't know about that! Perhaps Darble will be a bit too far from the action for you to camp!!  Hope it keeps on heeling!!

This, totally. If I'm worried about me feet at 4am then something is going wrong in the way I'm approaching things.

I tend to take my wellies/trainers off whenever I'm still at the festival, just to give them a bit of air and give me feet a bit of a rest. Can be a bit of a pain taking wellies on and off, but it's worth it.

Would recommend taking a trip down to an outdoor thingy store and having a look. Now is a good time as they'll be clearing last years stock.

Unrelated, its the same for BBQs for anyone looking to invest for the summer. Save a fortune.

im a big fan of sealskinz waterproof socks , these paired with some walking shoes are fantastic , even if the shoes are not perfectly waterproof the combination works well :) and I suppose they would work ok with more normal footwear as they have kept my feet perfectly dry wen splashing directly in puddles inn the past

If it were dry i'd quite happily take trainers/converse but the slightest hint of mud and i will be in my boots. Best investment i've made barring a decent waterproof tent. After years of trying to get by with wellies and ending up with that numb toe feeling for months, last year i had none of that.

Ah, I'll be fine, just wait and see :)  I've gone to Glastonbury on crutches following surgery before, unable to walk more than 100 metres without having to stop to let the pain recede and still managed to last Wed-Mon on a diet of codeine and skittles vodka so this will be a walk in the park.

Got myself a pair of hi tec altitude walking boots but its more because we've moved to the lake District and have two dogs to walk. I'm not used to living in a hilly area having moved from the bog in Ireland. The difference is quite astounding.

Although I did struggle to find something cos like @Untz i just don't like the look of them. So might have to also alter my wardrobe. My wellies got me through the past few years but i was black and blue leaving last year cos i fell over so much. Admittedly a combination of glud and gin. :)

I will be packing some trainers and flip flops this year though. Dont care what Nal says.

This is important. Also, keep moving. Standing around hurts more than walking around.

I think my full blown AIDS will come second to this years definite attendance

My entire group are going to be there and I am struggling to withhold my constant erection.

Rather excited to say the least.

I wore walking boots up to the Saturday before switching to my wellies which were fantastic to walk about in but an utter nightmare to take off, they fit me too well.

the key to wellies is to buy decent ones, my wife wears wellies every day so invested in some high end ones (not hunters) for Glastonbury and said they were fantastic, wore them every day.

I tried on the gents version and they were like slippers, so comfortable but way too much for me for the use I'd get from them, cheap £10-£30 wellies will do to your feet what you would expect them to, especially if they don't fit properly.

Wait, boots don't go with your clothes but wellies do?

Colour me intrigued! :)
