When I saw Ray a coupla years back I thought I only knew a two or three songs but it turned out I knew most of the ones he played. Cracking show too.

All Day and All of the Night and You Really Got Me are pretty similar to be fair to the lad.

actually I know Village Green Preservation Society and Dedicated Follower of Fashion too, but they weren't on the Best Of I listened to.

don't remotely recognise any of the rest. they'd make for an incredibly dull headline set IMO.

is this going to be like the people claiming ELO had a huge catalogue of hits to headline when in reality most people only know Mr. Blue Sky and Living Thing?

If you don't know this, I'd be amazed.

I saw Ray Davies in 2010, and the whole pyramid field was singing along to just about every line of every song.

Had a peep at the clashfinder to see what was on at the same time. Christ the 2010 line-up was brilliant.I think there were a lot of great bands in the UK that summer, I went to Leeds and it still stands up as one of the best festival line-ups I've been to. Grizzly Bear over Ray Davis was obviously the connoisseur's choice though, followed by Gang Of Four, Broken Social Scene and LCD Soundsystem. That's the stuff.

Yeah, 2010 was a vintage year in my eyes. Line up was fantastic and it was scorchio throughout.

Noooooooo I can't escape brexit even on here.

there really should have been a requirement for everyone to have an IQ test before voting. Can these morons not see the supidity of claiming you want to leave the EU to reclaim our sovereignty and then complaining when someone uses this sovereignty to challenge ' the will of the people'

you can't pick and choose when democracy applies.

Yeah, sorry to bring them up, so to speak, but my hatred of them is lifelong, even before jft96, hence I wouldn't let it lie.

Back on topic though, always enjoyed RD or the Kinks whenever I've seen them there - if only I knew when that was ;)

I  love the Kinks and Ray's 2010 was one of my best ever Glastonbury moments, but I also dont think they are headline status.  Put them on late afternoon again, watch the field fill and sing the place out. it would be amazing.

WHO DO THOSE JUDGES THINK THEY ARE? Some sort of highly specialised legal experts giving an impartial reading of the law of the land as it's written or something? Make me sick they do.

EXACTLY.

Theresa May walks like she obviously hasn't finished a shit off properly and still has a bit left up her. That sort of professionalism takes commitment.

Let the unelected anal retentive decide our futures and our children's futures for us.

That dried Malteser of itchy poo won't exit until we Brexit.

And as someone also pointed out:

'Newspaper' owned by member of Loaded Foreign Elite whines about Loaded Foreign Elite.

not sure they really have the songs either.

stuck on a Best Of after this thread and bar the 4 songs I already knew (Waterloo Sunset, Sunny Afternoon, You Really Got Me, Lola), I didn't recognise any others. they were all extremely same-y too.

Ouch this one hurt, The band they say "started the mod revolution" or at least contributed the most only have four songs. Im sat here on a sunny sunday morning listing to Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire) some brilliant tunes on that album alone that you haven't mentioned. Fair enough if you don't really know the band each their own.

Ray's set was great in 2010, most of my group had run off to see England get thrashed by the Germans while a few of us found a nice patch of grass in the glorious weather that graced us and had a good dance and sing song.  It would be great to have the Kinks there, be it a headline spot or the legends spot.
