Stage Predictions 2017

They would have to play on Sunday looking at the current lay of the land. Can't imagine they would clash with Radiohead or Foo Fighters.

It's hard to gauge how much of a draw they would be at Glastonbury.

Aye tbh I can't imagine they'd pull a huge crowd really, but they played second stage at TITP in 2009 and they'd certainly pull a better crowd at Glastonbury than there! If QOTSA can do it and pull a decent enough crowd then I think NIN certainly can, even if they're maybe not quite as popular/as much of a household name over here.

Only reason I didn't put them there is because I'm now convinced Craig David will be taking that Friday Pyramid slot, and I liked dental's Other sub idea (far less people there for the sake of it and more actual fans, although guess there's always the risk of people just waiting for the headliner afterwards).

I'm leery of it simply because JP will be rammed for the Flips at the conclusion there - though if Kraftwerk are on WH that night instead, I'll probably head there.

ATCQ pretty high on the hitlist so if they're there, I'll be making a concentrated effort to see them.

Your old-style layout is pretty strong though so kudos to you, sire!

If we take that ATCQ-NIN combo on the Other on Sunday night, that'll go down in Glastonbury legend - though I think there's more chance of a Beatles reunion than NIN at Glastonbury '17.

Yeah I know it ain't gonna happen, but I'll stick em in my prediction year in year out until it does :P

Only thing that makes it a remote possibility is the distinct lack of possible/likely Other headliners about, but chances are that we're more likely to be underwhelmed with something uninspiring rather than end up with something amazing like NIN.

Seen NIN before? Just the once for me - Manchester Arena, 2014. I saw Prince the night before and I think it may be one of the greatest weekends of my life.

Hmmm, going to do a bit of pruning on your list...

I refuse to abide by your far superior formatting. Keeping it oldschool, and as always, stealing everybody else's ideas and changing them just enough that I can reap the rewards. As always, gave up half way upon realising I'm shite at this and know nothing about the lower down acts on a lot of the stages:

Friday:

PY: Radiohead, The xx, Royal Blood, Lorde, Craig David, Kris Kristofferson
OS: Justice, Imagine Dragons, London Grammar, Richard Ashcroft, You Me At Six, Phoenix, ... , Elbow
WH: Damien Marley, Young Fathers, Blood Orange, Four Tet, Omar Souleyman,
JP: Bonobo, Glass Animals, Warpaint, Fat White Family,
PA: The Jesus & Mary Chain, Teenage Fanclub, Mark Lanegan Band, Thee Oh Sees,

Saturday:

PY: Foo Fighters, Lady Gaga, Kaiser Chiefs, Brian Wilson, Christine & The Queens,
OS: Alt-J, Boy Better Know, Haim, Stormzy, Metronomy, Wiley, Wild Beasts,
WH: The Jacksons, Solange, The Avalanches, Toots & the Maytals, Afriquoi, Canalon de Timbiqui, United Vibrations
JP: Dizzee Rascal, Sleaford Mods, Mastodon, Spoon, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard,
PA: Ride, Grandaddy, Angel Olsen, BadBadNotGood,

Sunday:

PY: Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, Barry Gibb, Diana Ross, Rag'N'Bone Man,
OS: Nine Inch Nails, A Tribe Called Quest, Courteeners, Liam Gallagher, Father John Misty, Slaves, The Shins,
WH: Jamiroquai, Jungle, NAO, Anderson Paak,
JP: The Flaming Lips, Slowdive, The Kills, Crystal Castles, Whitney, Parquet Courts,
PA: Laura Marling, Local Natives, Real Estate, Alvvays, Margo Price,

That's who I've seen of your predictions. So pretty much going to be able to squeeze twenty acts I've never seen before out if I do a good job!

Is there actually any chance of Mastodon appearing at the Farm?

That would be ridonkulous.

They're in France on the Sunday with no dates booked for the rest of the weekend so I don't see why not. They're certainly one of the heavier bands I could see Glastonbury booking somewhere along the way. Probably not gonna happen, but a nice thought :P

Not seen them since Leeds '07 (where they were incredible despite a not too arsed crowd). I'm an idiot for not going to see them at one of their own shows since really. Always let money get in the way but I won't be making that mistake when they tour over here again!

I think if ever there was going to be a bit of a metal booking, Mastodon certainly have that crossover appeal, being a bit more heavy rock and the links to QOTSA. Pretty sure their new singles were being played on Radio 6 a few times recently as well...

To be fair one of their new singles is pretty dreadful and I'm assuming that's the one that's getting airplay, but I'll forgive them for that considering they're had a pretty amazing track record up until now.

I still regret not seeing NIN during the NIN/JA tour.

I have a lot of gig regrets :P

Was that the farewell tour? I remember watching them on that tour and being 100% confident that he'd be back again in a few years.

I regret not seeing them on The Fragility tour.  Who caught them at Glastonbury that year?  Did they bring the whole stage show with them?

Here's my take for the Pyramid and Other stage (with extra formatting since I'm a sucker for these stuff) - it's a mix of my prediction based on the information we have, who's touring, who I feel would be a good booking and also who I personally want to see to show up:

What did I miss? Not playing any dates over the glasto weekend, and don't think they are a BST exclusive are they?

Not touring in June according to someone who's been in contact with Neil. Tour dates start in July so makes sense.

Reckon at this stage we're looking at a pretty bleak selection on Pyramid/Other in general to be honest. But I think that'll be made up for by the really strong showing we're looking at from the other three main stages. Going from the acts we're expecting and those that are available Park in particular is looking to be stacked to fuck.
