No amount of security at the festival regarding searches will do anything to stop an attack if someone is determined to also be killed in the process.

So fuck it.... carry on as we always have done and not let our lives be ruled by hate ffs.

Crew need photo ID at the gate....photocopy is OK. Thiswill cause problems for crews who have changed workers since the names were submitted in March.

I was in Tunisia the day of the first of the attacks there - fortunately at the airport waiting to fly back home. But we were in the area of the attack the day before. It was fairly upsetting for my partner and I, especially seeing the news footage of where we had been 24 hours earlier.

 

I was scared that day. I was scared at the first gig I went to after Paris. But fuck it. I refuse to let those sad w*nkers dictate my life. I am going to go and have a blast. I trust that the organisers have thought this through, and that there is some kind of response in place. I trust them to keep me (and all of us) as safe as possible.

 

Plus, there is this great big bloody fence...

I can only make comment on what was passed on to the WBC at the start of May - Unlike every other year anyone who is using their own car will be sent their own photo ticket { in previous years they have been trader tickets with no photo on them } - the WBC keeps a extensive record of all the Volunteers and Managers and I am sure GFL will have access to that photo record for anyone arriving on the Coach - the Coach instructions will be sent out this week so its not clear if back up ID will be required or not but I am advising all my Team to bring their driving licence with them. As to what happens to other workers that is down to the people who recruited you to give you advance notice so your best to contact them.

I know for oxfam this year the wristbanding is being controlled centrally by Glastonbury (whereas before wristbanding took place in Oxfam field) and e-tickets linked to a live database are being used.

Surely the crack down on worker entry procedures is as much to do with controlling numbers as terrorism. Most of the stories I've read about on here about how someone has got in without a ticket recently is through some sort of dodgy trader?

Maybe they should do more searches, but looking for larger, dangerous items, rather than unrolling all your sockets looking for more, er personal, contraband?   More searches, but less time taken on each. Keep the crowds flowing.

I don't work for oxfam but we also this year have e tickets which we need to swap at the gate for EPO wristband and photo ID is required.  Apparently a photo will be taken as well!  The e ticket is the closest I've got to having a glastonbury ticket for many many years!

You'll be fine if you aren't daft. I don't recommend putting them anywhere in your bag though

a terrorist with guns needn't bother getting a ticket. Not that I think that will happen but I see people use that reasoning all the time. I've gone through this with friends, sure Glastonbury is a target but not bigger than any other festival, football match, large gathering of people. What happened in Orlando along with Paris and so many other places is terrible but we have to keep going.

If they put police with guns out on patrol the feel of the festival would be ruined, if they had them hidden I don't see it being an issue and in fact sensible as a precaution. I feel that extra defenses but defenses out of sight are the best bet to keep us safe from something which is highly unlikely to happen anyway. 

Enjoy the festival and trust that every eventuality will have been thought out by those in charge; Glastonbury has its entire, very large reputation riding upon it.

I once volunteered to take a whole load of naughties in for me and several of my mates. In that instance I put them in a smell proof bag and taped it to my inner thigh and walked straight in (OK, it hurt a tiny bit taking the tape off but much more preferable to being busted).

There are concealment products on the market but if you think laterally and have a look around your home you should find something that will fit the bill. Failing that Poundland is full of objects that can be used.
