Should I have kids?

Although I am interested in the festival from a parents point of view.

Can you see headliners with the crowds - yeah the crowds, it must be a nightmare.

Can you split the parenting role and take it in turns to get more involved?

So my missis is pretty keen and I think it's probably about time, but not if it ruins Glastonbury for me.

How much fun is it having kids at the festival............ really??

You win the internet for today! :D

I think if you are wondering whether having kids may spoil your enjoyment of a music festival then a vasectomy is probably a better idea!

If you don't already have kids and there are no good medical reasons they aren't terribly keen on giving a vasectomy.

I asked. :)

last year at Lionel - the biggest crowd ever - i saw a mum pushing a buggy with a sleeping kid in it.  the gig had just ended and she was trying to get out.  i said something like "i wish i could sleep my way out of this crowd".  she snapped back "you could if you had more pills" or something like that.

it was at that point i was entirely grateful not to have to push a fucking pram through the biggest crowd ever.  i fucking love feeling smug sometimes.

Me and my partner are parents of a four year old and have been to Glastonbury three times since she was born. I haven't ever felt compelled to take her yet. It looks like fun with the kids field and the fairy wings etc but if it's hot or really wet -there's little shelter, she likes to go to bed at 7pm meaning we miss the fun stuff, her little legs get tired so it means carrying her or pulling a cart and least of all it means we can't really have a drink. It sounds selfish but actually I'm not sure she would enjoy it with all of that combined with crowds. Maybe when she is a bit older, in the meantime she enjoys a holiday to somewhere with her nanny while we let our hair down.

I've met lots of kids and yeah, they can be a good laugh in small doses but fucking hell, they can also be a right pain in the arse.

We've all got a mate who fits the above description and I wouldn't invite them to come and live with me for the next 20 years, which is why I'm hesitant to have kids.

It's a very different, but still fucking awesome Glastonbury with kids. I think my kids have done 5 (to my 20) now they're 10 and 12 now. It's nice to be a little less off your face and chill in the kids field.  Some years we bring 'em, some years not.

I loved my 'pre child' Glastonbury years, but I've loved it even more these last few years with my daughter. I started her young so she wasn't overwhelmed by it all, and I've still seen all the bands I wanted to watch... Just a bit further back than where I used to be in the crowd.  There is no way I would leave her at home for the weekend, it just wouldn't be the same.

Apparently not true. I asked @eFestivals the other day.

You need kids to get in the tent when dynamos on, not to get in the field. Although they were turning people away shortly before he was due on last year so it's probably best to have a wander in the morning if you do want to look around the kids field

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
