i like the idea of the Hot Prince DJ set but I seem to remember lots of people saying the sound in Genosys was jarg last year

Sound at Genosys was fine when I was there for Erol Alkan's acid techno set. Think Tiga was on too and sounded great but that might have been the year before

Thursday night for Cerrone the sound was about the quietest stage I've ever heard at a festival.  Mik Artistik gets more firepower when he's at the Gateway Riser.

Confused by this not dancing to Prince thing - would you just stand still at a gig? Nod appreciatively? <mind blown> How can you not dance to Prince?

Physically incapable. Although tbf, I also tap one foot if I'm really into something.

Really? That's shame, I missed both his sets last year. I wonder why he's on that article. Weird.

Yeah it is a shame - I missed him last year too but have seen him several times before.  He needs a big system for his music and he's extremely particular about it, so I can only guess that their system didn't meet his expectations.

He's on the poster they just released...

Bit gutted really. Sometimes it sucks when the music you like is a niche within a niche.

Fingers crossed for something more to my taste in Shagri La somewhere, but I'm not holding my breath.

:(

Although there's still plenty of great stuff on there, and I'm still gonna have a wicked time regardless.

The sound was terrible unless you were stood right in front of the dj booth. The problem being, when its dark and youre hammered its very difficult to actually find the right side of it.

I remember we waited for about 20 mins for four tet to start thinking it was incredibly quiet only to realise we had to be all the way round the other side.

"This year’s audio upgrade means Genosys will now benefit from the same cutting-edge sound system used by the Pyramid Stage – audiophile heaven!"

well that answers my questions :)

I like a lot of others like the sound of Hot Chip Prince DJ set on Genosys...... shame I will be the only one in my crew that does!

Still, I might fuck off to that for an hour and can always meet the rest of them in the Unfairground after, thats where they usually end up going.

Not long now!

    • Pressure will be shifted to Israel, but don't think anything is going to happen this side of the election.
    • It's encouraging news, but Israel's withdrawal from Gaza will very much depend on how credible Hamas's commitment to completely disarm is.   In my view they are right to be skeptical.
    • Now we’ll see if Israel are actually capable of winding their necks in    I doubt it
    • Policing is very relaxed, provided you stay within your lines I'd say. I don't think we're supposed to have an event shelter as well as a tent next to our van, but we've done it without issue for years. It's a happy vibe up there.
    • Do feel a lot more cynical about the Mercury now. Given the awards show is now an arena event, there's clearly a pressure on them to nominate mainstream acts in order to sell tickets for it. And not saying that Jade and Knats don't deserve to be nominated (haven't listened to either), but the fact the event is in Newcastle can't have nothing to do with that... (not to mention Fender winning last year, which frankly was a joke)    Hard not to agree with this: https://www.clashmusic.com/features/this-years-mercury-prize-is-a-pivot-towards-the-mainstream/
