Just out of interest (and my initial thoughts would be that it was them emulating your user name!), but what in the name of all that is sacred is leading to your two idiot friends passing up their GF tickets?

:)

Ben

One has a new ish relationship happening and has dropped off the face of the planet recently , the other seems never to really enjoy it much and often ends up going home early but I think he likes to say he was there !! once you see the fancy dress you will understand the username :) so unfortunatly is just the 4 of us for my 40th celebration , oh and the other 150,000 + people

My friend seems to be bailing on me, too. I think a lot of people are not happy about the headliners this year and there are many other festivals which are cheaper with already announced line-ups. I think by keeping them secret, some people don't want to spend that amount of money without knowing who's playing. In my opinion, the atmosphere and slim chance of getting a ticket should be a reason enough to go, but oh well..

Can you here that chuntering noise?

That's the sound of thousands of people hoping to get lucky in the re-sale chanting "don't pay, don't pay"

Make sure that YOU do though but!

I have to be careful not to come across as an insufferable music snob in every post I write but, WTF?!

I guess I have to acknowledge that many (most?) people let music happen to them, more than they initiate their relationship with it. I am significantly interested in almost no-one yet announced or TBC for this year's Glastonbury, and yet that just enhances my excitement. It means that I will find even more phenomenal gems in the undercard, as I am not distracted by Muse (seen 'em many times, they've been average at best for years now), Adele (really? Oh behave!) or Coldplay (nothing against the perfectly vanilla lads at all, but would close the curtains politely if they were playing in my back garden).

Your friend needs a lesson in how to do festivals 'properly' and, moreover, in how deciding whether or not to go to Glastonbury is a fundamentally different process than the same for any other.

Thanks for your kind words, I totally agree with all of your points. I'm not too excited about the headliners either but I acknowledge that they are popular contemporary musicians (name of the festival, duh) and there will be much more interesting musicians to discover. I might show him your post if he still resists coming shortly before the payment is due. Glastonbury is one of the best festivals in the world (won many prizes and from what people say) and even if he doesn't come, I'm sure that I will make new friends at the festival who appreciate it :)

I sure will, I can't wait to be there for the first time :D I'm already addicted to this forum...

Guaranteed, wf.

One of the biggest thrills for me last year was meeting and getting to know at the festival all the people that I never get to meet and spend time with outside of the SuperFence.

Five days and you have kindred friends forever.

I've noticed that at other festivals, those bonds last forever! And everyone on here is so kind, I'm even more excited now :)

This, there's a few im slightly interested in but none enough to get excited.

what gets me excited is the festival itself and the anticipation of acts that have yet to be announced.

Due to an engagement breaking up  1 of our team our pulling out aswell so thats another in the pot...... I'm trying for another 3 though

That pledge bit is interesting. Wouldn't it be nice to believe everyone would actually commit to it?

The tragic thing is they're basically just asking people to use the toilets when they need the toilet, and to use the bins for their rubbish, yet that seems beyond most of the attendees.

We tend to get a few extra band names being released in the run up to balance payment, just to sway any waverers, but I don't care about the line up because there will always be something to suit everyone, often away from the main stages.

Has that always been the case? Do they usually self-confirm or do they get announced officially? I'm really hoping for a poster by next Wednesday or Thursday.

I've had the e-mail.

I'm overseas on holiday for the entire duration of the 'open window' for this payment and having gone to the See Tickets site I can't see a way to pay up now / early. I have severe doubts about being able to get net access whilst I'm away.

What the f*** do I do????

Internet Cafe.  Mate.  Dog.  Etc.

Its pretty straightforward and can be done by anyone with your debit card details - or someone you know also paying a balance can pay yours too - and that way only one postage, and one dreaded wait for the delivery!

Leave card details and reg number/postcode etc and very clear instructions with somebody you really trust. And call to remind them until they promise its done...

Been waiting for the email all day ....... Then remembered that I wasn't fortunate to get a ticket back in October :(

Damn. It's starting to sink in now that it's likely that I'm not going to be there this year (I'm taking the pessimistic / glass half empty approach for the resale)

With headliners being known, I reckon poster will be after balance deadline. Dunno why I think that but I do. Also, remember if there's not that much on poster that takes your fancy, there will still be shit LOADS more to be announced even after that.

If you're unsure, or trying to convince someone - recommend looking at the full line-ups for the last couple of years - it won't BE that, but it gives you a good idea of what the final line-up will be like - whether you like headliners or not, I don't think the 'big picture' of the lineup changes much year by year (I mean in styles, etc - not acts themselves)

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
