Muse to sub Radiohead :P

they're (obviously) huge fans so i doubt they'd be against it, but it'd still be weird for them to do considering they're a headliner in their own right. it's not even like Muse are a particularly small headliner/band who could slip down to sub - they're still huge over here (albeit not quite as huge as they were a few years back)

biffy wouldn't play after muse, no way.

I didn't think that, but I wouldn't think it's impossible for them to be billed as co-headliners

Surely they wouldn't go all reading and have a dance headliner on after Muse?

i thought that, but what dance act could even be considered big enough to justify bumping Muse down, unless that Jean Michel Jarre stuff was right and he demanded darkness/a closing set?

That could happen, but if it were JMJ I think the mass exodus from the pyramid field would prove it was a strange move

yeah i can't imagine a bunch of knackered sweaty Muse fans sticking around for this guy and his laser harp

I could imagine a lot of people hanging around to watch someone like The Prodigy, but I don't think that's overly likely to happen at all, it would really be a case of hanging around though, cause muse would be on much earlier?

The Prodigy are probably smaller now than the last time they headlined Other so i don't see them being bumped up to Pyramid

literally the only thing i can see happening is that Muse begged to play (for some reason) and they just stuck em wherever they could (gotta be as a sub - anything lower than sub would seem odd, both for fact they're a huge act and one who wouldn't really work slap bang in the middle of the day)

i still think nothing will come of this, mind, and they'll either be headlining or not there at all

Muse were booked.

Thom Yorke rings up Emily and asks to headline.

Emily asks move to subheadline to Radiohead.

Possible?

that's just about the one thing I think is impossible.

Muse spent the early part of their career fighting off "radiohead clone" comments.

Even if Radiohead were to play, I just can't see Muse being the act who'd play before them.

But they had to fight off those comments for a reason - they clearly admire Radiohead as a band immensely. But I guess they want to exist in their own right yes

Neil, if what you heard was true about Muse at least being pencilled in as a headliner at some point then surely this means they essentially stepped down as headliner willingly to make way for another? which seems rather strange

this would only happen for......... PRINCE

I feel we're simply experiencing this year's 'Emeli Sande moment'

Yeah, I can't help but feel this will be one of those things that we look back and laugh at the absurdity of it.

Edit: Maybe people won't laugh much when Muse and not Radiohead headline actually.

yep, I'd guess that's what it would mean. Nothing else would seem to make sense.

But ... it's probably more likely that what was said to me was the bit that wasn't making sense.

Yeah, there's nothing even remotely funny about that.

that one was all my own doing, just from blue-skying the idea of possible female headliners. I said from the off it was wacky, tho not 100% off the scale.

This one isn't mine. It's something that's been said to me. It might even be true (tho I doubt it), who knows?

    • Someone said something along the lines of "the lows were really low but they highs were really high" and I think that sentence sums up my ps experience this year. Thursday was a downer (even though I got to see men I trust, geese, oklou and fcukers), but the weather, the missed shows and the uncertainty (those comms...) made it a bad day. Friday and Saturday on the other hand where rly good, a bunch of amazing shows each day (The Cure one was quite something), that surprise on Saturday...   Will be back next year, hope they get another impressive lineup as this year (quality and quantity wise) and that tickets and  primarily hotels don't get much more expensive.
    • Rosalia Radiohead NIN MGMT Bjork David Byrne   Also Vince Staples' new album is cool. I could see him returning.
    • If we are guessing then I think it's   Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls   Weezer   The All-American Rejects
    • Everyone who was there has said how amazing it was so makes the excitement grow even more.  The XX and actually Kneecap were both very good too.     Roll on 3 weeks time
    • Fallow year merch not for me... I'm not interested in celebrating this occasion - in fact I think it's stupid 🙂    Covid wiped out 2020 and 2021 so we should have another year or two before the fallow, in my opinion.  Probably a bit late to change their minds now though!
