I just feel it's the wrong direction to go in if they want to promote a 'heavier' band at the festival. There are so many great options out there, it's just such a shame they seem to have chosen BMTH.

I think, maybe not generally, but pretty often, the crowd for an Other headliner can be surprisingly small. I think there's not a clear differential between the Pyramid and the Other. You can see this on here, when often a band could equally headline the other or sub the Pyramid. The demographic is similar. So, inevitably, that audience often chooses to go for the bigger band. Sometimes you can go to a headliner on the Other and it's pretty fucking sparse.

Who? It needs to be an act who is bigger enough, but who is sufficiently mainstream enough to attract enough of an audience. There's many better heavier acts than Metallica, many better pop acts than Beyonce etc. but they have to be in a position to perform.

I like their first two records but have no intention of seeing them.

However, its exactly the type of booking the festival should be making. It's an act who wouldn't normally be given a chance at the festival, a potential risk, but with enough mainstream edge to have some guarantee of return from. It's a win win situation for the act and the festival because they get the chance to try something new and keep the festival moving forward, and probably won't be expecting a massive crowd so will be pleased if they do.

Listening to Hail To The Thief. I forgot just how much I like this album. I love Radiohead. So hoping they play somewhere at Glastonbury.

Deftones, Korn, Faith No More, TOOL, Soundgarden to name a few.

I just don't like the idea of the festival booking a group of cretins, who piss on and abuse their fans and change their genre more often than I change my underwear.

I don't want to be the 'they aren't a Glastonbury band' guy, but they're the one act I just don't want to see the festival book.

Just my opinion.

Seems an odd criticism of a band. In most genres this kind of thing is celebrated but I guess this is what I've come to expect from metal/heavy rock.

I've never heard a BMTH song, just a general observation.

Not really. There's a difference between experimenting with new styles and pushing boundaries, compared to just going with whatever's popular at the time because £££. It comes across as insincere and fake.

FFS, they released a single last year called 'Throne', which was essentially a Linkin Park cover with a Game of Thrones music video...When THIS was a single from their first album:

They are a band that put more effort into market research and branding than actually writing music. 

There's a world of difference between that, and Radiohead going from OK Computer to Kid A.

I've seen this written about them more than once (might have been you on both occasions) when you say piss on do you mean they're literally dishing out golden showers at their shows or they're just charging to much for merch?

Anyway, as described by an employee of the venue, the following incident allegedly took place:

_"After the gig two girls tried to get on the tour bus. Later on, the singer, Oliver Sykes, tried it on with one of the girls. When she said no, he called her a dyke and first pissed on her before him and the rest of the band threw her and her friend off the bus. Once off the bus someone within the band through an empty bottle of Jagermeister at the girl's head..."

Yeah you're right. Don't need them polluting the sacred Radiohead thread. Although tbf, 'Radiohead' doesn't exactly make sense as a band name.

What's the general consensus: if they do sub headline, how long will they get? Standard sub slot is 70-75 minutes. I reckon(er) it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility for them to get 80-90 minutes.

Lollapallooza (hadn't been announced yet) and they are rumored for Outside Lands

The only Lollapallooza lineup that hasn't been announced yet is the Colombian one which is not around Glasto anyway and Outside Lands neither. So they either haven't updated their website yet and even if they went there, there would still be a huge gap at the end of June. But there might be more festivals that I don't know of, just keeping my hopes up high.
