You just know the album is finished and that Thom is fucking around with the reverb levels on some individual synth note that is played once, on one track that is buried deep in the mix so only those with £100,000 speakers will be able to hear it anyway.

Yep, it's confusing. I don't know which side of the conflicting info is the accurate side and which is the inaccurate side.

Ultimately, unless anything is announced, all I can tell you is what I've heard and who I've heard it from - and then for you to make up your own minds.

Me, I still still side with the info that they'll be playing, on the basis that the guy who is telling me this has told me correct info in a past year that Radiohead would be playing. If I get no more info that I feel is better, I'll keep on leaning this way until the festival is over (cos it might be an unannounced set).

But, all the same, I have to accept that info might be wrong. ... but I don't think it will be.

They'd have to be on Pyramid or Other Stage if they do play. I doubt they'd play the Park again. First because they've already done that and secondly it would probably cause utter chaos again.

We know the 3 main stage headliners already and I just don't see them subbing for anyone. Not a chance. So that leaves a very random slot on Pyramid stage or they headline the Other Stage. 

I want nothing more than to see Radiohead live at Glastonbury but I just can't see it happening this year. I think they are certs to headline in 2017.

I've got it - ver 'Head curating the JP tent for the weekend.

6 hand picked bands per day by Thommy incl supports from DJ Shadow, reformed Sonic Youth and Rolf 'Arris on remand, spesh dispensation donchaknow. Michael Gove a massive 'Head fan and will be backstage over the weekend.

Ver 'Head banging out 3x3hr sets over the weekend climaxing with a 20 minute version of Reckoner on the Sunday night with vocals by Mark Hollis.

Hows about that for a slice of fried Glasto gold.

I don't think it's happening (tho no one seems to have a clue who it might be in that slot), but I could definitely see them subbing to Adele.

For one thing, they'd have to be right up themselves to feel insulted by her being above them on the bill. She's the biggest act in the world at the moment, and I don't think they think they're that precious that no one could ever be above them.

I also think it's something that would work well, as a headliner for those who don't necessarily want to see the real headliner who's on afterwards. And it takes the pressure off Adele, who seems a bit concerned that a set of ballads might not be quite the thing.for a Saturday night at Glastonbury.

Outside of that slot we seem to be running out of other possibilities, tho I don't think 4am in the naughty corner somewhere couldn't be done either.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they get announced in the big list of bands.

Hey, it sounds unlikely, but we know Thom likes it down there from his DJing, and at 4am they'd be no mad crowd rush, and there's strong crowd control measures around there anyway. It could be done, but whether the festival or the band would do it is another thing.

Thanks for the comments Neil. Interesting stuff. Until there's significant evidence to suggest otherwise, I'm still going with Radiohead subbing Adele, billed as 'special guests'. I definitely agree with what you said regarding the idea of them playing the sub spot and, with such a massive headliner as Adele, you could easily get away with convincing another headline size act to play below her. Sure, Radiohead are headlining festivals around Europe, but most of those are smaller, and none of them have Adele playing. 

Not to mention, if a standard 'sub headliner' act played below Adele I think they would get completely lost in the shuffle. It would almost be the death slot. Radiohead would clearly be able to fill that slot and, as you mentioned, it would take the pressure off Adele somewhat. I also believe that the headliners were set in stone long before Radiohead decided they would be active this year and, since they apparently have headliners in place for next year as well, this might be the only way they can squeeze Radiohead in on their current album cycle. I'm sure they would be happy to play before Adele, but maybe not Ed Sheeran

I can't see it myself, but really intrigued as to how this all turns out. I'm not going to Glasto this year but got tickets for the roundhouse, and if I had to make a guess based on nothing I'd say I'd think they would headline next year as part of a bigger tour.

I wonder if there have been discussions about subbing, or secret sets, and that's why some info has been flying around as I'm sure they'd be keen to do something as they clearly love it, however now the tour dates are out I wonder whether they'll just sit tight on anything else glasto-related - seeing how insanely quickly the tour dates sold out surely makes anything unannounced at Glasto just too much of a safety risk, and maybe they were waiting to see how that all turned out before making any firm decisions? 

Who knows though. Maybe the album will land tomorrow along with a plethora of new festivals including Glasto

That's what I'm thinking/hoping for. I'd prefer now to wait a year for hopefully a proper headline show to their own crowd than have a half assed smaller set to a field half full of people waiting for Adele...

I really don't wanna dismiss anything - I mean if we had a clear contender for Saturday sub I'd probably not think much of this.

however - as faithless are the only act to spring to mind, and they aren't exactly pyramid sub size anymore the possibility is there!

radiohead before Adele doesn't seem that mad either...
