Bestival 2016 Headliners?

I assume the final headliner will be more of a novelty act rather than somebody like Kendrick?

As long as Ride are on the same time as Major Lazer (makes most sense surely?), then Hot Chip, The Cure and Ride is good for me. Along with Ghostpoet, Animal Collective, Jagwar Ma, Mo and Wolf Alice, it's a good start.

Ride are main stage Saturday, before the Cure.

Didn't know that. Gutted, only really bothered about Ride/Cure. Not enough to warrant me spending £200+

You obviously don't like them as much as my wife and her mates.  They'll all be spending £200+ just to see the Cure.

Well thats just daft! They are doing 3 nights at Wembley for £50 a night!

(although i did the same last time they did Bestival! in my defence they didn't have any other dates planned and Bjork and PJ Harvey were playing too :D )

Yeah, they're going to all those gigs too. Plus a bunch around Europe and America.

The Cure were awful there the last time, not enough to temp me back again, but then I fell out with the place a few years back.. lost its way for me.

yeah i was really excited to return last year after not going for a couple of years but thought the atmosphere had changed an awful lot. not in any hurry to return unless they ever pull a stupendous lineup out of the bag

Unfortunately being 18 I don't have that kinda money to just spend on one gig. I'll have to ask your wife if she can lend me some money though eh?

not enough to make me want to go again but that's shaping up to be a great lineup. definitely can't argue with The Cure being repeated. very envious of that booking

So what is main music genre preference? I agree The Cure is decent but I'd never attend the fest. I would guess that's them done for huge headers as The Cure cost a bit.

i don't understand the question?

yeah i imagine The Cure cost them a fair whack so i wouldn't expect the last headliner to be huge, although i couldn't fathom a guess on who it'd be - Bestival headliners are notoriously hard to predict due to them varying in size so much

Sorry, I meant to say so what is your main music genre?

Could the 3rd be Billy Joel. At wembley the saturday night

would certainly fit in with previous bookings like Stevie and Elton, although it doesn't look like he's doing two nights on the trot at any point on his tour. in fact, there are huge week+ long gaps in between all of his live dates, so maybe not

Yeah or it could be Coldplay feat. Vera fucking Lynn.

This is Bestival we're taking about, not some picnic in Hyde Park.

i refer you back to Elton John having headlined a few years ago. not that it's gonna happen, but how would Billy Joel headlining be in any way different?

    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
    • Out of interest keep seeing messages saying last 12 hours etc… to buy you full weekend tickets.  Whats that about? Do they take them off sale early?
