Just a thread to appreciate that wonderful set, Hello was a real Glastonbury moment, I was holding back some there!

Out of interest how did that compare to Dolly last year?

 

Crowd size wise, from the live stream it looked bigger than Dolly's crowd. Which is a truly remarkable achievement.

 

In terms of his performance, the half of the set that I watched  before switching over for Fat Whites was very good also.

I don't remember ever seeing so many people really dancing for a legends set. It was just like the whole field was dancing. All different kinds of people, even the chair people - all dancing. It was like a Glastonbury miracle!

I wasn't there (at the festival) so don't really know the answer to this. Not that there is a singularily correct one.That said, how on earth could the man compete with Doll's 9 - 5? Oh perleeease!?

 

Edited - just to say this word, singularily, may not exist. Well only in  my mind. And now yours, of course.

Gutted to have missed out this year and it's been hard watching from home but felt the urge to come on here and rave about how awesome Lionel was today! He clearly loved every second and so lovely to see Such happy Sunday faces in the crowd, as well as all the dancing security! His interview on the bbc with Jo whiley after is also heart-warming.

On what has been a terribly mediocre Glastonbury (certainly not a vintage year anyway)........Lionel absolutely smashed it. Best thing the Beeb has showed all weekend and thoroughly enjoyable and I'm not even his greatest fan either. Always thought he was a tad cheesy but I enjoyed the whole set. 

 

Aretha next year would be flipping marvelous though.

I didn't make it this year, but from what I saw on the telly (and a 'little' bit of research on here) it says a lot about the festival's standards that anyone could call such a smorgasbord of wonderful performances 'mediocre'.

Mediocre by Glasto standards most definitely (IMO)

 

Would I still have had a brilliant weekend had I got a ticket this year? Obviously yes. However, line up wise it's not been a vintage year. Not one single headliner on Pyramid, the Other, The Park or John Peel all weekend would have been "must see" for me. 

 

Seen the Who at Glasto in 07 and they were no spring chickens even then. Seen Chem's loads of times too. Not a hip hop fan at all so Kanye would have been missed and Florence is another act i have seen twice at Glasto. 

 

I'm sorry but I just don't feel the lineup was all that special this year but I concede that actually being there is ALWAYS special.

I suppose with differing tastes that's bound to happen to someone every year. I agree on the Pyramid, but there was bloody loads I would have loved to see on the other stages every night. Me, I thought 2009 had a pretty crappy line up, but I'm in the minority on that one to say the least.

Anyway, Lionel played a blinder!

I certainly don't think it was mediocre this year, you have to be there, not watching on TV. Lionel was great, we watched it right at the back on a slope, and we had our own little group atmosphere, everyone was singing and dancing, props to the Richie master

No offical info yet, but ussualy there are free festival buses from Ljubljanica to festival site, with few stops on the way. Nice to get to the festival but crowded from festival back to the city.   Where is the best place to find an Uber/Bolt to return from the festival site? Petrine ulica   Are there any shaded areas to take a break from the strong sun? Yes, i think there is some.
