If it's Blur they'll be doing something that I don't think they've done in the last 20 years: repeated a headliner without an obvious change of status.

I don't really buy the theory to start with (I don't think that a "change of status" is going to be a significant enough factor in the decision making process, but even so they're touring a new album and that's as much of a change of status as Coldplay, Muse, etc have had between their most recent appearances.

The main thing against mccartney is it would be a lot of money to spend on someone who would play a lot of the same set as last time.

Granted he has enough hits to play a completely different one, but he would play a lot of the same.

At the moment I'm thinking

Foo Fighters, Florence, Iggy Pop

Rudimental on Other

Kanye, Pharrell, Van Morrison

Ben Howard on Other

Blur, Foals, Emeli Sande

Chemical Brothers, Alt-J on Other

literally the same as you but I changed one or two things.

All things considered .. Surely Taylor Swift would make much more sense than Blur as a headliner?

Absolutely, but I think she'd be prepared to sub and I think post-Kanye there is a degree of damage limitation that may be required, sadly.

If it's blur it's because emily was looking for a suitable sized replacement act! All arguments of relevancy or whether they are due back aren't valid! Because that's not the point of their booking, the point was because (if Neil is right) a week a go they had no one and they needed someone!

Gorillaz replaced U2 in late May, Pulp replaced Stone Roses the week before the festival. They have over 2 months to find somebody fresh and new. Are Blur really the ONLY headline act available??? ...We know that's not true as Emily has already said FATM are big enough to headline.

I'm not saying it can't be Blur, but it's a strange choice if it is them.

Nah in 2004 Muse were headlining the 2nd Stage at TITP opposite The Darkness, and in 2010 they were selling out multiple nights at Wembley Stadium.

Do find it strange if they're scrambling for a late replacement and have Flo subbing, especially based on Emily saying she could do it.

Only reasons I can think of are that they'll only risk Kanye with two massive, non-polarising options alongside him, or Emily doesn't want to go back on what she's said in public about Flo not headlining.
