I chose Arctic Monkeys over Portishead. God knows why.

Yikes!

Im personally still smarting over that Gorillaz gig and the fact I didnt head to the Other stage for the Lips..........

But my darkest Glasto day (not clash decision related) is the Sunday in 2010 when I missed a full day with the exception of half of a Slash gig due to sun stroke........

No Ray Davies

No Stevie Wonder

No Faithless

No LCD Sound System

No Orbital

There was a fair amount of clashiness I did not even get to consider there :(

I know I can beat anything on here.

I missed David Bowie for The Bluetones!

its one of those things I shouldn't even admit to. It gets harder to understand how I did it as the years pass, but I can only say that I have genuinely never been a massive fan of Bowie, and I did really love The Bluetones 'at the time'. The thing is as you look back - The Bluetones???? Really??? How the hell???

Oh dear, that's terrible.

Think the guy being dragged away from one of the most famous Nirvana performances is worse though.

I've looked back and missed loads of great bands, some more than once. I guess at the end of the day one of the things I like best about glastonbury is its one of the few places you can do this. That's why the headliners really aren't that important. Whatever you see is how it's meant to be, it's your festival ;)

Ps I've no regrets about Rolf, he may be a c*** but back in the day I had a great time singing along with many thousands of other festival goers. Such is life.

2011 ..... Saw Kieser Shites for some mad mad reason, then got dragged off by missus and mates to see Cool and The Gang for solitary "comedy" get down on it sing-a-log, instead of see the legendary QOTSA headline slot on t'other. :suicide:

Still row with my missus to this very day about that.

QOTSA were fantastic too

Not even the Kaiser Chiefs could ruin the combo of Eels and QOTSA being so close together on the bill..

Happy days :)

My most idiotic moment was Sunday 2005 - Jem at the John Peel instead of Brian Wilson. We could hear the cheers from the Pyramid inside the JP tent, so knew we'd missed a blinder.

What was I thinking?

It was good to see for a "I was there and saw him" moment. Performance wise he was pretty terrible. It was all backing singers with him mumbling along.

I did the opposite and still regret it

When I was leaving portishead there was a couple having a massive row as they'd ruined their evening watching a band they hated when they could have been elsewhere...just the sound of the boyfriend yelling "I know they were shit, but everyone said they'd be great" was hysterical, as pretty much everyone else at the gig had a magical experience and they clearly hated every minute.

Woah, woah, woah. Brian himself may not have been brilliant, but his backing band were at the height of their powers, having just toured Smile. Musically, it was excellent. So many musicians on stage doing faithful renditions of Brian's original 60s arrangements.

Hahaha, I apologise. It just had the feel of wheel out the legend to sit and bang away on his keyboard while mumbling the words to his songs. The rest of the band were, as you say, excellent.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
