Glastonbury 1998.....memories. 20 years ago this week!

'98 was my first Glastonbury but I have to admit that most of it is a blur (no pun intended) I remember the mud, the Other stage being one giant puddle, Deftones being brilliant, the A lead singer in a ape costume, Robbie being surprisingly entertaining, lots of liverpudlians (or possibly the same one lots of times) selling 'LIGHTERS! LIGHTERS! hash, speed, pills LIGHTERS! LIGHTERS!', flooding campsites and stuck cars. I went to this one and '99 with my then girlfriend, who, sadly, took her own life in March this year. Watching that video and knowing we are both in crowd loving it has brought tears to my eyes.

    Fallow Year Support Thread

Yep, last year was the first I didn't manage to get tickets for despite trying in all four sales. So two years for me!

    The parking is muddy.

    Green Man Festival 2018

I'd love it to be Eels but think it would probably be a female led act so Courtney Barnett makes sense. Or Feist possibly, though she is headlining EotR and they don't tend to end up with the same headliners.

    PSB vs PSB

Saw them at the Warwick Arts Centre last week - brilliant stuff and I also agree that the visuals certainly added to the new songs and grounded them more in the mind. However, Palace were crap, all the charisma of a wet teabag.

    Green Man Festival 2018

Got my tickets in the early sale, including a much sought after Campervan ticket. Looking forward to it already, top festival! Going to guess at Public Service Broadcasting for one of the nights.. maybe Thursday in the Far Out.

    Acts you don't "get"

+4 for The National. Every time I try to listen to them I mentally switch off after the first minute or so. Decided that maybe they would come across better live, so gave them a chance but found them just as dull - like a hipster Elbow.

    Queens of the Stone Age

Missed out on tickets (story of my life!) in the original sale and was going to try for the new date.. so my girlfriend had to tell me that she'd got tickets for the Edinburgh night for my birthday! Seeing my fave band in a 2000 capacity venue combined with a city break.. my girlfriend is rather lovely!

    Are Tories welcome at Glastonbury

I live in Chipping Norton and can assure you that it is certainly not anything as Tory as it's portrayed, for example, the town council is a very strong mix of Tories, Labour, Greens and Independent. The villages around Chipping Norton on he other hand...

Your (potentially) Contraversial Changes to Glasto

Up the amount of coach tickets considerably then re appropriate some of the parking area into camping space. Close Oxlyers as a camping space and completely redesign the Other and Silver Hayes areas into the new space.

    Secret resales

Got to admit I've done the complete opposite to some of you guys and completely ignored it his year. Went down to Cornwall on Thursday and watched Royal Blood at the Eden Project (amazing venue, brilliant night) and then spent the rest of the weekend surfing/ kayaking. Haven't watched a moment of it yet but I dare say I will when I feel I can without referring to everyone in the crowd as lucky w*nkers
