The Wombats :-)

New song & video is brilliant.

New album around spring.

Surely must be playing this year.

I'm still not sure if you're actually serious. I thought you were, then I saw the picture of the wombat and I thought you were joking. I then watched the video and thought I knew you were joking. Then I thought "Hang on, he's included a fact and his sentiment seems genuine, maybe he isn't". Then I saw the wombat and thought "Oooo I dunno". Then I remembered how gash this and every song they've ever done was and now I'm just confused.

They were the pre match entertainment before the Rugby super league grand final I once went to.

My dad said they were "the worst act he'd ever seen and that includes the bald bloke we saw on holiday play they spoons and sing songs about standing in dog shit"

I thought they were even worse than he did, but you can't please everyone.

A step too far Gnomicide, a step too far....

I fully understand that, unless you're me, people would say I have shite taste in music. I can live with that because you're all wrong.

A member of this forum (who shall remain nameless to save there eternal shame*) recently posted a link to a Hall and Oates song on Twitter. THAT is a step too far.

*rhymes with Buderson.

Used to like the Wombats when I was 15/16. They had a habit of supporting the Holloways a lot, playing 30 minute slots, rushing through then demos such as Moving to New York and Little Miss Pipedream. They were great.

I've now outgrown them I guess. This new song is really poor. When a band has a break/has so long to put together new tracks, is this the best they can come up with?

Not massive fans, but saw them at the Old Blue Last this week, and we enjoyed them

When someone asked on twitter this week if they were playing festivals this year, then confirmed they were, and when asked about Glasto, there response was "hope so", so read into that what you will.

Don't think we would go and see them at the festival, must admit, but think they would get a good crowd. Can understand why lots of people loathe them as well

I'm normally uber defensive of Liverpool bands, even when they're rubbish, but if the Wombats ever had their "I Am Spartacus" moment, I'd have to go. "Yep. That's Spartacus. All day long. Fair cop."

Circa Waves will hopefully redress the positive balance of music in the 'Pool.

Agreed.

Wombats are shite.

You can't defend the indefensible.

Person 1: 'of all the bands, singers, poets, theatre acts, comedians etc. etc. there are in the world, who would you most like to spend an hour or two of your short time at Glastonbury festival going to see?'

Person 2: 'The Wombats'

Person 1: 'You're dead to me'

I am disappointed ...really disappointed.

I have fond members from when I was 17 and getting into music...and "Lets Dance to Joy Division" in indie clubs but they was pretty shit last time they played, and they haven't released anything worth listening to since.

Bae: Come over

Gnomicide: Sorry I can't. I'm listening to The Wombats.

Bae: My parents aren't home. Wait. What?

Gnomicide: Let's dance to Joy Division and celebrate the irony.

Bae, schmae.

    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
