The Strokes

They've been pretty boring every time I've seen them. Julian solo was even worse 'cos he doesn't even have the songs to back him up. I only went cos someone gave me some free tickets while I was sat in the Dry Dock in Leeds and he was playing the uni next door. Was no more entertaining than staying in the pub.

They were ok live but Julian just looked bored and that seemed to permeate through the crowd.

Thats exactly it, its not that they are "bad" live as such. They play the songs well. Its just most of the time, thy seem to lack any sort of spark with the crowd.

That said I saw them at Dingwalls for a secret warm up show when they had their "comeback" at IoW and that was pretty mad but I couldn't see much of the band and its a tiny venue so maybe it was just the fact of people going mad to their big songs in a tiny space that made it any good.

You been watching the same band as me? Boring as fuck live

Definitely this. Love them on record (well most of it anyway) but the three times I've seen them they've been nothing better than terrible.

Saw them on their first comeback gig in a tiny Dingwalls back in 2011 I think. That is the sort of venue they were made for, sweaty rowdy and great fun. Probably my fav gig of all time. A larger venue or open air just doesn't work, the energy of the music is lost somewhere.

So glad pulp were after them. Blew them away.

Always wondered if they were any better at reading with them playing last.

Not really. Pulp were far better. I did one to the pub halfway through the Strokes.

They always say they want to play but always chase the money.

'we really really wish we were playing glastonbury this year.'

'but we'll give you an extra few bob if you don't.'

'ok then.'

Yeahm definitely, they're a band that will always chase a pound note. I'm not really surprised to be honest.
