The truth is I was not much into dance music when I started going to Glastonbury. Now I throw myself into it head first.

Every year I catch acts for the first time and come back loving them. VTSS & Elka last year were superb. Would not have known who they were when  line ups came out.

So fully expects to love a couple of acts this year that I have no idea about at this point in life

This is me too, wasn't so much into electronic music when I was younger but these days it's what i'm mostly interested in doing at the festival. Most of what I know about current electronic music i've picked up through this thread, so thanks for that everyone - keep the recommendations for this year flowing!

It's the main reason I still go, to be honest. Over two thirds of my time is spent enjoying the electronic side of the festival, with the odd foray towards a band on one of the main stages. I spent hours at Babylon Rising in 2022 and 2023. Tiny tent, immaculate sound system, no mainstream names, just dub after dub in a great atmosphere. That's what the festival is all about, for me

Disclaimer, first timer's question! Having seen the Orb deliver a DJ set three times in the past 18 months, and loving it every time - where am I likely to find that kind of thing? I'm wondering if IICON would be a good place to start?

From experience of seeing the Orb play at the glade, I would say the glade 👍

I think IICON is a touch harder. But there are better people in the group to help you out.

Definitely on the Glade. They've been regulars there over the years. Ditto Banco de Gaia, System 7, etc.

Orb's set in 2017 on that Funktion One setup was a spiritual experience.

This place is one of the best little nooks at the festival, it's always going off at odd times of the day / night.

I know it's unlikely but I hope Helena Hauff gets booked again, the combo of her and Daniel Avery last year was really great.

2017 was my first Glastonbury. I saw The Orb and Justice. How lucky was I?!

I reckon Helena Hauff could easily be back - lots of areas will want her

    • No worries, it's a perfectly fair question to ask. I would expect people to be talking at the back & near the bars & that is where I would want them to be talking. If your group are enjoying yourselves & the music & briefly chatting to say how much you are loving a certain song etc, you would be an ideal group to stand behind.   My issue is with people having full blown conversations (usually unrelated what is on the stage) whilst being surrounded by people who are trying to listen to the music. This was happening in the middle and towards the front of all stages, & so you have limited options to move around & you may have spent 20 minutes waiting for the band trying to get the closest position that you can. If there's a group of 8 people, there may be 2 or 3 that like the band & the rest will start talking if the music isn't their thing. This may be the norm now for festivals, and if it is, that's ok & I will focus on a band's own gigs & UK based new music festivals.    I'm also not including consequences of my own decision making. I saw Geese on Wednesday so went to Occident after Men I Trust finished so it was understandable there would be chatting that far back. Similarly, getting to The XX after Olivia Rodrigo along with most of the site, I knew my chance of a good spot & a chat-free zone had gone so that was completely reasonable.   PS. I went to Bilbao BBK in 2023 & 2025 & enjoyed it. For Pulp & Kylie in 2025, I got a position early & was surrounded by a respectful & fun crowd for both. The UK non-headlining bands tend to go on the undercover 3rd stage, & most people like to congregate outside so you can usually get close to the front of that stage.
    • Interview on 6 music earlier, was going to get the album to have a listen, but comes out the day they play the festival
