Soo? I was just pointing out that he could concievably play third down, not that I think he will

T's placings are not representative of Glastonburys though.. as they usually pay a bit more money to get bigger acts in lower places.

But if you look at Pharrell's tour across Europe this year it's top billing at most festivals, and i'm guessing anything lower than a sub would probably be too low for him.

And yet only yesterday, everyone was suggesting a T headliner as our sub, acts won't necessarily get the same placings at all festivals, my point was that third down was a possibility for an act third down at a festival with less TV coverage and prestige last year

I had a quick a look at the reviews in Uncut earlier, without buying it. Weller's new album got 9/10 - and I trust Uncut's ratings (as a guide, not gospel) more than most other mags/sites. Even if it's a good record, though, his more recent output is neither commercially sounding or successful. So if he goes with the "fuck it, I'm playing what I want to play" setlist, it's a terrible booking for the stage itself, let alone subbing!

Townsend wasn't found innocent

Just a small but I think important point, in our system of law no one is ever found innocent, we all start off by being innocent and remain so until found guilty.

I'm not defending anyone ore anything and not commenting on the argument, just making a small legal point

Then easily things can be cancelled.. No one is paying to attend so it's not a big loss.

Being Dutch, let me explain me a bit more about Parkpop. It's indeed a free festival, but attracts lots of people. In 2013 there were 250.000 visitors. In the past even more then 400.000...

Paul Weller being one of the headliners will not 'just' being cancelled is my guess...

Is cancelling a fest the same as cancelling a gig? Might get a reputation as a welcher, and not get booked in future.

EDIT: Ha, Paul Welcher, wheyyyyyyy you absolute lads.

In his defence, he shifted quite a distance from the meat and potato rock of Heavy Soul and the like. I've not give it much of a listen myself mind, but he seems to get decent reviews. I played that 22 Dreams a couple of times, wasn't too bad. Hardly the sort of stuff I'd be seeing at the Pyramid on the Sunday mind.

We've moved on from that unpleasantness to a collective slating of Weller.

Just tried to look up Weller on spotify and his last four releases are "Classic Album Selection", "More Modern Classics", "More Modern Classics (Deluxe Edition)" and "More Modern Classics (Track by Track)". Bloke sure loves classics.

There's only so many ways you can polish a turd

    • I too am always a bit blurred on what/who constitutes a legend slot but would Sting fit that bill?  Those there said his IoW slot was v good and he has enough of a songbook imo for a Sun afternoon if he uses the Police's 1st 2 albums for a fair chunk of it
    • Thing is, I'd have said that as well.   But then she inexplicably ended up on the Wilderness lineup and that changes everything. I reckon if that goes well, which it will, then she's very much in the picture.
    • This has probably been discussed a hundred times already on efests but what constitutes a legend? I know some of it is my age but I don't see eurithmics or Duran Duran as legend status. Neil young or nils lofgren then yes and neither of them have overly troubled the charts. Duran Duran and indeed the eurithmics I would put in the 80s category and whilst it would be ok (human league at isle of wight we're fabulous) they just arent in my mind legend status.  Zombies played same festival- i would take that.
    • friendly tonight delayed , pitch draining pretty quick to be fair .... not sure it bodes well for other games with potential fixture backlog
