I was there. I was only 20, my second glasto, and had no real ideal of Cash's legendary status, nor of his renaissance at the time. However, went out of curiosity and watched from a little way back, sat down in the sun. I remember there being a lot of songs about murder, and it being a good set, but not much more than that. Only years later did I appreciate that I had seen a genuine legend, and I'm glad I did.

Wow! it makes me insanley jealous lol! yea haha, he was a morbid man! had smiles on his face that whole gig from the reception tho! and June carter came out! Would of been brilliant!

Another throwback. Was anyone there in 1994 and saw Johnny Cash? sorry its off topic, i like to hear about previous Glasto gigs. Watched it on youtube and the crowd were fantastic, he looked really pleased!

Are they actually playing at 4 or is that just what time doors are at?

I was joking with the post that reply came from. It's doors at 4, but someone the other day was extremely confident with this prediction. Almost so confident that I believe him.

NME have just published an article stating that Bob Dylan has some gigs in the UK this year... has any information ruled him out at this point?

nothing specifically rules him out i suppose, but he didn't headline last time he played although that was 1998.

Definitely highly regarded and got legendry status in most circles although I can't say I'm avid listener or whether he's got new material but I'm guessing since 1998 he'd have new songs aha

Pyramid - the temporary one after the old one burnt down just before that year's festival. the current Pyramid was built in 2000.

Ah really? i didnt know that! it looked like the other stage from the video, but i wondered that they surely couldnt put johnny cash on the other stage? haha

Don't think Bob is interested in festivals/stadiums anymore, more of a theater/jazz festival player now.

Got my tickets for him at Albert Hall today, they were rather expensive but what do you expect at Albert Hall.

thing with Bob dylan is now tho, is that he just sounds truely terrible. I cant see him playing

Hes great live. Superb band and he can sing. Sounds ace. Beautiful harmonica player.

Never a headliner though.

Hoping for a Dublin show. Was superb last year. And I'd love so see some of the Shadows in the Night stuff live.

He's my all time favourite artist but I have to agree (although the vocals on the latest album are his best in ages). He'd be about 4th down if he ever played again, a la Robert Plant, no chance of headlining.

Yeh 5 days in a row for someone his age and with a notoriusly detoriating voice seems pretty unlikely as the consensus on here seems 4 dates in a row is a bit much for Taylor Swift. As you were efesters!

I think some people may be forgetting how big the Libertines were getting before it all went wrong? The hype was massive - comparable to the early Arctic Monkeys hype. Their media coverage was certainly greater (even if it was often for the wrong reasons). I suspect some of Arctic Monkeys early success was aided by The Libertines' early demise, as the NME/indie crowd were suddenly in need of new idols.
The only time I've seen them live was subbing at Leeds 2010, and that felt like a headline performance (though Arcade Fire then stole the show, to a much smaller crowd, afterwards).

I saw Bob Dylan at Hop Farm several years back. He was following Ray Davies, who completely blew him out of the water. It took about half the song to realise what Dylan was singing.

Plus he has a big thing about being recorded - and I don't mean for TV coverage - I mean for the big screens, so if you want to actually see him then you better get there early.

2bf im just going off youtube videos and what ive heard! Doesn't he also change the arrangments for songs now tho?

Hes done that for 50 years though. People expect 1965 Bob to walk out with the afro etc and sing the album version of Mr Tambourine Man.

This is Bob live these days. Its an indoor thing really. Never an outdoor festival gig.

Completely agree and never thought of Monkeys rise in this way. I remember 2004 Libs were due to play before Morrisey and Muse. I was devastated when they pulled out. Don't think they'll headline but I wouldn't be gobsmacked if it was announced. Faithless, Travis, Skunk Anansie anyone?
