Headliners 2015

I don't know about 100k but if the other Friday headliners are Rudimental, Catfish & the Bottlemen (though I think they'll sub rather than headline) and Caribou as has been suggested then I doubt it'll be too far off it.

I reckon Catfish'll be rammed if they headline, the indie lad rock/nme crowd comprises a lot of festival goers, fairly uninspired booking, but if they're up against those kinda acts then they'll get a really decent crowd, imagine rudimental will be fairly popular too and Caribou will have a decent vibe with all the cool people there

I felt a lot more cramped at The Stones and I was further back than I was at Dolly.

Both were ridiculously rammed though

Agree I went to see Snoop and won't go as far as empty field as I walked all the way round the back... it was quite full though but still had plenty of walk through space

The stones were the only act they have ever extended the field for and it was still chock a block.

For the first half hour or so. Then all those who were there to tick the "seen them" box wandered off. We just got in before they closed it off (our daughter two minutes behind us didn't) and were far, far back in the crowd - the previous year there would have been tents where we were standing. By half way through we were able to move significantly further forward without once having to say "excuse me".

Snoop's the classic kinda act I'd love at a festival at midday, would never pay to go one of his gigs, but he's got some massive songs.

Yeah that's true about Catfish actually. Still not sure whether they'll sub or headline JP but they'll likely get a big crowd whatever.

That looks pretty big to me, and to be fair if you were any further forward than half you'd swear the field was full.

I'm sorry but I'm not even an oasis fan, i liked one song ("cigarettes and alcohol") until i heard the song it was ripping off, but if lyrical standards are supposed to be held on a similar level to most classic poetry (particularly someone like Keats) then every lyricist in history would be pretty shite other than Nick Drake.

I get you're kinda hyperbolising a bit, but c'mon, the Roses, whilst pretty classic and I loved their debut about a year or two ago, are not the most inspiring band lyrically, they've got some great tunes but neither the Roses nor Oasis were breaking particularly big ground in terms of their lyrics and I could easily point out some fairly uninspired/not exactly poetic Roses lyrics:

The way she plays there are no words

To describe the way I feel

How could it ever come to pass

I mean, don't get me wrong or anything, great tune, one of my favourite Roses songs, but they were on a similar level to Oasis lyrically, nothing "profound" or "poetic", just fairly catchy and usually better (than Oasis) tunes.

FFS my whole point was that to hold pop bands to some high poetic/lyrical/profound standard as you were doing with Oasis is fucking pointless as they're not poets, they make music.

I saw Snoop headline Bestival and he was absolutely dire, he was great at Glastonbury in 2010 though. I think the Dre stuff has passed now too, there would be some interest in it but nothing like there would have been a few years back, and in terms of questionable characters and musical output I would say Dre makes Kanye look like the godlike character he believes himself to be.

Fair points, I always kinda forget some of the horrible shit Dre's been involved in/done (and Snoop to a lesser extent). Love me some west coast 90s rap though so I guess I'm a bit biased.

The MAC would get a huge crowd, but wouldn't compete.

Led Zeppelin would probably compete. Floyd as well. Maybe Bowie and Oasis.

This might be a fun game, which headliners, have to be alive not necessarily together, would draw the biggest crowd, or a crowd comparable to the stones?
