Hmm...

Prince ? Madonna ? Why not just dig up Wacko Jacko and have done with it. Glasto could style itself as one of those butlins weekenders that are popular with a certain demographic, Spandau Ballet anyone? Duran Duran? T'Pau?

Prince was shit in his 1980's "heyday" and not many serious music fans would have ever admitted being a fan then, so why on earth does he seem so revered now?

Christ. We're not back to the Stone Roses on the basis of XFMScotland tweeting "I am the resurrection and I am the light. #3rdcoming" are we?!

If it's XMFScotland tweeting it perhaps, if anything, it's related to TITP? They still have more acts to be annouced.

I just want the madness to end.

U go to your favourite act that is playing at that time. If there's none on U go to where Ur mates wanna go, or to somewhere else non musical, or best of all u watch bands U never heard or have much care for where expectation is low. I'm no fan of taylor swift but if nothing else was on I might give it a bash, u never know. Might be a Martin Ashford in me somewhere.

Could maybe have phrased that better

at the very least you could locate the 'y' and 'o' buttons..

Prince ... not many serious music fans would have ever admitted being a fan then, so why on earth does he seem so revered now?

Sadly it's mostly revisionists around here, who refuse to admit that was the case.

Most of those revisioists were about 5 at the time, and one who's much older can't remember what he said a week ago. But apparently it's wrong to state how it was at the time.

Help - were do I start to really get what the foos are about?

I've heard the radio played to death stuff but they've not got me yet and I find myself thinking how much I wish I'd seen Nirvana

What 5 Foos tracks define them best please?

Can of worms tin opener ready...

Monkey Wrench

My Hero

Everlong

The Pretender

Best Of You

Stacked actors

This is a call

For all the cows

Times like these

Hey Johnny park

Learn to fly

Everlong

Monkey wrench

Generator

All my life

Tired of you

That's what I'd whack on a playlist for a foos newbie, foobie?

BIB tough one as depends if you lean towards the heavier stuff, I personally love the song In your honour but they hardly ever play it these days. I would say the 5 songs that make crowds go mad at gigs are:

Everlong

All my life

Monkey wrench

The Pretender

Best of You

The 5 I like personally are:

In your honour

Stacked actors

My Hero

These days

The Pretender

It's really NOT nonsense.

He was massive - but with pure-pop fans. The types who were also buying SAW output. The sad mums, and those who bought two singles a year. That was the only place to get that massive back then.

Is there any evidence other than your word for this?

Yes we get it you don't like Prince but sweet Jesus stop with the sweeping statements and lumping people together who like a certain artist!

Can I ask how old you two are, so that you're able to state it's nonsense by you having lived thru it?

20, but I can feel free to believe people who were around at the time right?

My point being is that I know a few people with an excellent taste in music who'll say they were into Prince at the time. They could be lying, but I choose to believe them.

    • €225 plus fees (as a 2026 ticketholder and with Revolut) is a crazy good deal.
    • I don't think PJ has as much broad appeal in the UK as GNR has. Rock listeners will know Alive and Jeremy so on, but which songs would a random person off the street know? With GNR you have Welcome To The Jungle, Sweet Child O Mine and Paradise City to name a few.
