If you remember, that poster contained Pixies, Arcade Fire, Massive Attack, Metronomy, ESG, Jack White, Warpaint, Dexys and Kelis, it was beautiful.

No, it was confusing and panic inducing because we all assumed that the good names would clash. I won't accept anything similarly vague this year.

Tell me you're thinking Robin, you're one of the posters I trust the most (mainly cos your spotify playlist is pretty on point)

A few things, none of which are of much consequence:

1) IoW announce their final headliner Friday morning and GFL will enjoy getting some news out just beforehand (a la Lionel).

2) Last couple of years it's been latter part of the week, in or just before balance week.

3) We haven't even had a reminder email about the balance payment yet, which suggests they might be saving it up for one email with the lineup/link on it (they'll surely want to remind people before the week itself).

4) Self-confirmations seem to be stepping up a little - JESuS, Christy Moore, Gretchen Peters - almost as if they've been told "keep schtum 'til end of March".

5) GFL will be keen to get the publicity away from this Kanye nonsense ASAP (and thereby stop the ever increasing numbers of people signing the petition) and on to more positive matters.

As I say it doesn't amount to much, but makes me think tomorrow night sounds right. I may very well be wrong. Biggest thing against it is Eavis' memorable line that we'd find out on April 1st (even though he was talking about headliners and we already have 2).

Thanks, I see the logic - can see it happening.

That is a very good point and a good argument for it being tonight/tomorrow. They always send a reminder out about balance payment week, don't they? And it's never a day or two before, it's always a good few days in advance. I can't see them asking for payment on the back of the Kanye furore without dropping a load of other names first, and they'll make reference to it in the email as well just to make sure people are aware.

Just want to say a big 'fuck you' to all..

after losing my password shortly after the festival last year and my uni email account shutting down so I could not retrieve it I retired from these forums, still checking in every day just to see if Mike99 had returned (as well as get the latest rumors) vowing never to post again.

The madness over the last 3 hours has had me so aroused that I had to create a new account, However In the intensity of it all I created an account and sent it to an email address that i'm not even sure it exists (R.I.P Andy0808 v4)

Very glad to be back.

p.s I'm not Roses4Baggie (Although that is something he would say)

Uve gotta be baggie

If we don't get something, anything, on here before its actually announced I'll be a bit upset.

It's been a fun ride though guys.

They've kept it under wraps for so long that I'll be mighty surprised if anything leaks now. Would be surprised if Neil was even able to warn when the announcement was coming.

    • I wonder if they had that vote again they'd vote differently, seeing how successful other mayors like Burnham have been?
    • Doesn't surprise me. West Yorkshire had a vote if they wanted a mayor in 2012 and voted no. The government then ignored the vote and announced the position anyway in 2016.

    • Also agree, it does feel that there isn’t much between the Mercury Prize and the Brit Awards these days.   This part sums it up for me “The complaint isn’t so much about the quality of the music, but more the disappearance of spaces for outsider voices in British music. With streaming algorithms feeling increasingly geared towards big names, and social media acting as a minefield, the Mercury’s pivot to the mainstream closes another door in the face of creative independence.”
