I'd love it to happen, but looking at the most active Roses forum discussing it, it seems the *only* info out there is from Big Vern!

Mmmm not promising but then I can't see why that forum might turn up any more clues than this one really... this one digs for Glastonbury rumours, they dig for Roses rumours, it's entirely possible that it's just still a secret to all but a few people.

well, that's possible, perhaps even likely.

For Sunday, it will definitely be an act with a pile of hits, and not a teeny-act - which makes Swift unlikely.

We know the Roses kept their reform under wraps very well, so they could do the same with Glasto.

And I also know that Ian Brown has 'disappeared' recently from his normal hang-outs.

Who knows, it might be right. To me it fits better than some of the other names being thrown around.

this is coming from a guy who thought the roses would headline the other stage. please settle down.

If you'd read my posts correctly, you'll see that I said that I could see them possibly playing this year but couldn't see them headlining the pyramid stage for the reason's I've outlined. I was then trying to think where they might play and up against a pop pyramid headliner was the only place I could see it happening,

For a 'new' user, you've done an awful lot of reading as that was pages and pages ago but clearly suddenly decided to post.

Big Vern is the only person who has some maginally credible evidence and that was a 'my friends says....' The rest of the rumours are basically being just trolling IMO as 'the Stone Roses are headlining' is always going to be a popular topic, Shame it's just not based on any real, reliable evidence.

it's almost as if Beyonce and Mumfords haven't happened in the past three festivals...

although yeah i don't see it being Swift now

I think the statistic of hits by Taylor Swift vs hits by Kasabian pretty much speaks for itself.

No, but there are certain pointers which as somebody who doesn't seem to be a fan, you wouldn't really know about, which is fine but don't be so dismissive... for example the things Neil has mentioned like Ian Brown going off the radar, talk of a new album a year or so ago to be released in 2015, the end of their contract after their last tour, the secrecy in which they carried out their re-union suggests they're capable of keeping a lid on things, somebody mentioned Mani had been chatting about new material recently, and most importantly... Who ever said they'd split up after their reunion?

All I'm saying is, you're acting like everyone has lost their minds for even suggesting it, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

Yeah imagine Glastonbury turning Led Zeppelin, The Smiths or Talking Heads away over lack of recent material.

All have more than 1 and a half albums. Unless we're seriously going to argue the Roses second album is front to back a quality album.

My point is that no matter how iconic or loved the Roses are, are we seriously arguing that a band with 1 iconic album and 1 underwhelming follow up, who've not released any new material for over 20 years are now going to headline the pyramid stage?

You really are adamant about this aren't you? Look, at this moment in time The Stone Roses are perfectly capable of headlining the Pyramid Stage, that is literally it. There's barely any room to dispute this, it's just fact.

It's not a fact, it's a matter of opinion.

Absolutely. Pretty sure no band had ever headlined Coachella, Sziget, Isle of Wight or V "20 odd years after their last album and with no new material and only 2 albums in total" before the Roses.

All those dates coincided with their tour and were ££££. And Coachella, as has been pointed out, isn't the best argument considering they bombed.

Anyway that's my last Rose's post on the matter. Hope they do play as clearly it'd make the festival for lots of people but for me it's one of the more outlandish suggestions.

as i've said many a time, if they are our last headliner, i'd fully expect the new album to be dropped sometime before the festival. i can't see them headlining with nothing new, essentially peddling the same setlist they did with all other festivals three years ago. Glastonbury hasn't played second fiddle to other festivals in the past and i don't see them doing it now for the Roses

We are. It's ace.

True dat, Second Coming is brilliant, Love Spreads on the Pyramid would be great, How Do You Sleep would be even better, still peeved they didn't play it at Heaton Park.
