Headliners 2015

I'd genuinely rather swift over madonna. If madonna plays it will just be to kick start her faltering career I reckon and that irks me.

You won't hear me arguing that point, if she plays I think that will certainly be the motive behind it. But she certainly wouldn't be the first to be booked with that motive in mind.

Her motive wouldn't bother me anyway, if she got the setlist right she would own it (I know you're not personally a fan, but I mean for the masses). Also in terms of the tv coverage the promotion for the BBC/Glastonbury would be massive. Her SuperBowl show is still the most watched of all time worldwide, more so than the Stones, MJ, Prince, McCartney, Beyoncé etc...

Properly getting into Fleetwood Mac's Mirage album atm. It falls between the cracks due to the seventies stuff and Tango In The Night, but there's some good stuff on there.

the Mirage Tour live from LA is great.

Lindsey Buckingham clearly coked up to his gills on 1st track "The Chain" is hilarious too, he seems like he's about to explode out of his body

Playing the Grammys, rumoured to be doing some more shows this year, headlined Hyde Park last year to much praise, would fit as a smaller, heritage booking next to Coldplay and Foos.

It's hard to imagine 2 headliners less inspiring than coldplay or foo fighters.

Even florence and the machine would be a breath of fresh air in comparison.

It would be amusing if the killers of kings of leon were announced as the third headliner. Imagine that!

it's going to be great fun next year when we have to choose between The Killers, Kings of Leon, Muse and Biffy Clyro to headline alongside Ed Sheeran....

I don't understand why people have a face on about Foo Fighters, comparatively far more interesting than a lot of the headliners we've had in recent years... an actual band with years of experience, huge back catalogue, with the ability to play to huge audiences, well known for putting on great shows and getting special guests on to do some decent covers... AND they've never headlined before... what more do you people want?

I despair at people putting them in the same category as Coldplay, Foo Fighters will be an ace headliner.

There's also the "they do it for free (or very little) so more money goes to charity, but that (for me) justifies them returning, but not every 4 festivals. Maybe once a decade.

In fairness that's why I booted off about Metallica, they play whatever festival they can get, but at least to my mind Foo Fighters haven't done a festival in a few years? maybe I'm wrong.

But the risk there is that (coupled with bad weather) a shitty line up makes it more difficult to ship tickets the following year. I know it seems unlikely these days but Glasto isnt guaranteed to sell out every year.

15 ish of us (inc mates of mates etc) last year and over half didnt even try for tickets this year. Coldplay wont exactly have them rethinking the resale.

Im arsed either way. The more you go the less the Pyramid headliners matter. Im more about drinking red wine and meeting crazies these days.

Foos are playing Rock Am Ring by the way. And have played IOW and loads of festivals before.

Hawkins is a cracking drummer. Worth it just for him. And the ladeez think Grohl is cool. I like him.

If you're looking for a place to start on them, try their first 2 albums. Both are belters, and the third's very good too. They started to go downhill from there, but Wasting Light was impressive too

Thought the first disc of In Your Honour was excellent as well btw. One by One has it's moments but on the whole is fairly poor. Same said for Echoes...

On the whole, In Your Honor is my least favourite of theirs (that's solely my opinion by the way), but Echoes isn't far off. I haven't listened to the new album yet, so I can't comment on that. Where would you say it ranks along with the others?
