word I'm hearing - it may be wrong, tho is from a grouping with go0od info - is that Foos aren't yet a signed and sealed deal tho there's no reason to think that won't happen in the near future.

surprising, although i'm sure it's more just a 'need to sign on the dotted line' affair more than anything. would be shocked if they're not there

I may be wrong, I may have missed it but this is the first time you have posted words to the effect of "word I'm hearing" in relation to headliners for a while.

Things are ramping up a notch!!

After reading the first few words, I thought we were finally gonna get a good new headline rumour - but instead we got a little bit of doubt on the only strong rumour! The suspense goes on ... !

I wish they were. ;)

I must say it's a very odd year, it's nearly feburary and we've only got one very strongly rumoured headliner.

Neil, just asking out of the blue. Have you got ANY idea of a potential trio? Or do you think they haven't even got three headliners lined up yet?

i've got no better ideas than anyone else, ultimately.

I don't think it's AC/DC tho.

Any chances they could be considering someone that wouldn't jump out at first as likely, just like the whole metallica thing last year? I think I remember you posting that there was whispers about it early on but you didn't think it was likely, and like us all you brushed it off until the rumour actually started gaining more steam?

the only other options that they could go for that wouldn't jump out as likely is stuff that we've all heavily discussed - big pop headliners, hip-hop headliners etc. whoever's announced, i'm sure we will've discussed them as a possibility for a fair few pages at least - just maybe less so than some of the others that we've stuck with (Florence, Elton, Foos, AC/DC etc)

Times like this makes taylor swift seem more likely...

I'm kinda joking and i'm kinda not...

Is this on the basis that if Foo's do it, that they are unlikely to have two "heavier" headliners? Or just from things you've heard?

all evidence pointing to it not being them - their tour dates, their large fees, their stage demands, and the unlikeliness of their being two quite heavy rock acts headlining as you say (although if the organisers were offered both, i'm sure they'd take both). their tour dates more than anything - they don't do two nights on the run, and have dates either side of the Glastonbury dates. if they were headlining, they would've surely cleared their schedule up a bit

    • They built a watering system and have been watering the island for the past few weeks to reduce dust, but given the current drought, there will still be dust. They will cover twice as much ground around the main stage with those plastic panels as they did before. They couldn't book Gogol Bordello because the singer was afraid the government would allow Russian security services to capture him if he entered the country. They didn't have much room to be selective about artists. They booked whoever they could get. This year's Sziget will be only about 50% of his original vision. He wanted a dedicated rock stage. They are preparing for a loss of 1.5 billion HUF this year. For some reason, student tickets are not selling in the numbers they had expected. He said that when he talks about the lineup being less important, he doesn't mean Sziget should have a weaker lineup than Primavera. Rather, it should have a similarly strong lineup combined with much more non-musical programming, so people from abroad come here to see the same artists but have a completely different overall experience. He didn't miss Sziget and originally wanted to spend no more than two days a week dealing with it, but now he's working on it full-time and has handed over control of the rest of his businesses.
    • Well the point seems to be 22.7% turn out doesn't suggest the majority are rushing out to support the mayoral system.
    • I wonder if they had that vote again they'd vote differently, seeing how successful other mayors like Burnham have been?
    • Doesn't surprise me. West Yorkshire had a vote if they wanted a mayor in 2012 and voted no. The government then ignored the vote and announced the position anyway in 2016.
