I really want to see Radiohead headlining, but the only thing holding me back from thinking it realistic is the fact that it's a complete guessing game when their new material is gonna drop.

According to the fans on tumblr, the new album is more 'done' than they are letting on. Of course this isn't proven.

I'd love to see Radiohead next year but I dunno If I can see it happening

It's probably less a debate over the worth of individual tracks as a debate over whether worthy blues rock is automatically better than dream pop / creamy soft rock. And I say 'Nay'.

Pfft, obviously blues rock is automatically better. Everybody knows that.

I find a lot of the late sixties British blues boom over-earnest in its po-faced attempts at authenticity. If there's a magic spark to elevate it - Hendrix's guitar playing, or Jagger/Richard's songwriting - then it can be amazing, but most of it is workmanlike.

Man Of The World, Green Maharishi, Need Your Love So Bad, Oh Well, Rattle Snake Shake, etc etc. There is nothing the Buckingham/Nicks line up recorded that comes close to such magic

Maybe Peter Green can do a spot too and we'll all be happy.

I was speaking about blues rock in general.

I'm not denying early Mac their chops as musicians, but I certainly prefer the later songwriting. As per the other thread, Oh Well wouldn't by anywhere near my favourite of their songs.

There are two versions of UB40 extant at the minute, aren't there? The original lot and a faux version that Ali Campbell's put together with Astro.

I know that Signing Off has its fans, but I very much grew up in the terrible covers era so I doubt I'd be beating a path to see them.

the stuff before they started with the horrid cod covers is actually pretty decent. I've come to the conclusion that their ear was so bad they didn't actually know they were decent.

Been to see ub40 a few times and would love them at glastonbury. Its a shame that they split into 2 groups as there much better as one. I think they would go down really well. people who haven't seen them i think would be surprised how good they are live.

Going to have to agree to disagree on this one. Without the mutation into a new band I think it's probable that they'd only be a footnote, mentioned alongside the likes of The Groundhogs or Ten Years After and only really remembered fondly by a small number of aging folk who were there at the time.

Actually, that's a bit unfair. They might also have been thought of as a one hit wonder due to Albatross.

(I'm aware they had other hits, but that's probably the only one that has a bit of a life of it's own.)

Yep - I agree completely.

For the Rumours-hating Mac fans of my youth, Mac got spun less than both of Ten Years After and The Groundhogs - tho it's possible that was merely how it was in my circle of friends.

Have to say I prefer The Groundhogs (eg Split) and TYA (Cricklewood Green) to early Mac, who I think had 4-5 brilliant songs but that was it....
