The Flaming Lips show at Bestival was anything but a 'greatest hits' set for non-fans. Wayne stood on a big plinth holding a bloody baby doll if I remember correctly. Very weird. Race for the Prize (massively slowed down) and Do You Realize?? were the only 'hits' played.

Has it gone back to being a bit more fun now? That changes whether I'd be interested in seeing them or not.

I honestly dont know what "hits" they have really. They are a band you either know or you dont aren they? I dont think a casual fan would know any songs at all! This was the setlist I got in May this year. I was happy with it anyway (though could have done with more pre-soft bulletin stuff as ever)

Well they're British, state how much they love the festival and it seems the festival likes them too.

Not my thing musically and I think they work best inside a tent/club type venue.

Can't say they're not popular enough, and if a new album has a couple of belting songs I reckon they'll be there, given the past 2 years Sunday headliners.

I still think they'd have Adele before them though, if it was a choice.

fair dos. I cant recall ever hearing a flaming lips song anywhere in real life. Actually I think a couple of songs of at war with mystics got used in adverts now I think about it.

just living in the past with the older demographic i suppose! Couple of her songs are catchy and people (including Glasto) seem to like florence but when i seen her live she failed to live up to that standard.

Kasabian on the other hand seemed to go down well with the majority

Adele would be a fresh new headliner for G. I can't think of many bands/people except Gaga who isn't as big as she was massive a couple of years ago that haven't already headlined.

Headliners booked based on something unquantifiable that varies between person, rather than revenue from music and or live gigs? You should tell the GFL to rate the success of the festival on how much fun people had too.
