Bignews
The eavis' dream was to not have to release any of the line up to sell out all the tickets right? so could it be argued that by coming up with such a controversial headliner (in metallica) and having a line up that divides opinions (i personally really like it) could be a step backwards in this goal as some people will think that they could come up with headliners like this every year? i know for a fact a lot of my friends have said that it is worse than previous years and this is why I'm asking
Guest
The weather will have more effect on how fast it sells out next year than anything. The year it struggled to sell out was because there'd been a couple of bad years weatherwise imo Every year there are some people saying it's the worst line up ever. Sun Ra Arkestra, tune yards (maybe), Jack White, Robert Plant, Dolly Parton, Son Of Dave, Alabama 3, Beth Orton, Bonobo, Lykke Li, Jeremy Hardy, Nitin Sawhney, Nick Lowe, some ballet, an orchestra playing Gerry Anderson theme music, and all the other stuff I haven't even heard of yet.... focussing on the stuff you like instead of the stuff you don't like, and it suddenly looks like what it is, the most awesome line-up you're ever likely to experience until next year

cassiel1972
Based on the speed at which tickets sold out in October and, again, in April - does anybody seriously think Glastonbury couldn't sell out without announcing a single act? I think the pre-ticket sale announcements are more about media profile rather than ticket sales - although, the two are Interdependent.
frostypaw
No it's great - really mixed up and something for everyone - so a step confirming they should be trusted to get it right

bezs brain cell
I think its a great line up .Next year i hope we dont know any line up until we get through the gates .All this negativity is a bit repetative every year but we all get tickets in october because its glastonbury and thats that .More chance now of people who love it to get returned tickets due to cancellations basedvon the line up .peace
ladybird33
I don't think the line up is as good as previous years, but I would go to the festival whatever, so am for the release of line up after resale. Whilst it would be exciting to find out line up as walk through gates, I do like looking into things I haven't heard of before I go and time to absorb the line up, so my vote would be release after resale. drewsstrat
This blows away any uk festival for choice, and I think considering you can only fit in 7-8 bands a day, there should be something for everyone. If your there just for headliners and pyramid perhaps your at the wrong festival - try V
alframsey
Best line up we've had for quite a while! Yes the line up is missing the (only very recent phenomenon) legendary act but in terms of strength in depth it' brilliant, also there are no legendary acts left who could head. FloorFiller
i don't understand how people can think this lineup is bad when 2008 is so fresh in everybody's memories. i know it's all down to personal taste but that lineup, for me, is just horrible, whereas this years is pretty much perfect (apart from the inevitable clashes due to the huge amount of great acts) even points on this years lineup that are bad (like Jake Bugg headlining Other) are easily ignored due to the fact that there will inevitably be somebody great on at the same time this years lineup pisses all over last years. every time i see somebody complain about this years lineup it's followed by 'last year had the Stones', like that was the be all and end all of last years lineup. last year had Bastille. this year wins Edited May 9, 2014 by FloorFiller

jdizzle
I think it is what it is. It would have been good to see my favourite band headline but I'm sure we all would have.
CaledonianGonzo
The Sunday headliners are a soul-consuming void of misery and despair. Even my nominal choice - Tinariwen - feel pretty stale when there are dudes like Bombino around..

siblin
Okay so the top 3 (6 if you include the other stage) are pretty poor IMO. But I'm not sure you can blame the eavii. In the 90's and 00's we were blessed with great music you could take your pick from. Since the rapid demise of the high street record store the art of the album has been demolished. iTunes etc sells single tracks and that's what makes the money, so the investment goes into the xfactor style acts. I'm not saying there aren't good acts out there, just the lack of marketing means they aren't suitable as headliners. In short - there aren't many good headliners out there

carlosj
Have to agree but last year Sunday night was for pretty dull, ambled round with nothing much to do, flat ended but possibly just my state of mind by that time.
