Like this for me. We saw Bobby Womack, but it felt disjointed with him disappearing, so we headed off and came across Glasto Latino's cinema and enjoyed the films till 2.

Doubt its made any difference, its pretty much a standard Glastonbury lineup of the last 10 years really. (Maybe the last few, some would say without a "legend" headliner..but even if you don't like Metellica, you've heard of them/heard enter sandman :P)

I find it a little bizarre that people knock the line-up because it doesn't match their exact tastes, or maybe just that their favourite band / artist is missing.

This for me is one of the strongest and most diverse line ups (and I mean right down the card, not just the headliners) that I can remember.

Certainly no complaints from me :)

Could walk through the gates on wed not knowing anybody who was playing and guarantee that by Sunday I will have had a fantastic time. Part of the joy for me is discovering new bands either playin big stages or in a tiny tent somewhere.

Sure , it would be great if everyone's favourite bands where playin everywhere all of the time, but is that what you would want?

At the end of the day we have been lucky enough to get a ticket to the biggest party in the world and I will be damned if iam not into one or two bands. You never know I might even like them

You don't think Metallica are legendary?

I think it's an awesome line-up, more than enough for me. Given how hard it is to get tickets right now, I can't see it being a problem for a while. I think tonyblair is right that the weather matters more in that regard.

My mate is a total newbie and he's almost hyperventilating with excitement over that line-up! He has no idea what else is in store...

So pleased I'm going! :D

No I don't, at least not in the sense that Neil Young, Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Rolling Stones and possibly U2 are legendary. Huge? Yes. Embody their genre? Yes. Legendary? Not in my opinion.

Ah well we'll have to agree to disagree :)

I think they are, in that go-down-in-history way. I know more Metallica songs than I do songs by Neil Young (soon to be rectified) and I expect them to be more entertaining than Springsteen. Wouldn't be hard...

And I don't own one Metallica album.

the older you get and the more festivals you go to, the harder it is for lineups to excite you. You've seen all your favourites and most of the big ticket draws have already been at past ones. You're usually left with new acts and curiosities. That's not necessarily a bad thing mind.

There's no headline act for me that has got me excited. Usually my stock response to that is West Holts but even they aren't floating my boat.

I like this years line up. I don't like the idea that the goal is eventually to have people apply for tikets without knowing the line up. As much as Glastonbury is an amazing experience and normally has a diverse line up I don't like the idea of giving my money for something without knowing the details of what I'm getting.

Nearer home to me T in the Park used to be pretty good, then they seemed to get to a stage they thought it would sell out no matter what line up they had and the result was last years lineup was possibly the worst line up ever for a festival when it was their 20th anniversary and the should have been pushing the boat out. Thankfully it didn't sell out so hopefully they'll have got a kick up the arse.

By far the weakest set of headliners that I have seen at Glastonbury on the two main stages, will probably just see Massive Attack, but think that there is strength in depth. Quite looking forward to just bimbling about and discovering things like I did for my first two Glasto's, plus it means more opportunity to see the alternative side which I love.

But no I don't think that it will affect his chances, in fact I would love to see this happen next year as it would increase the chance of me getting tickets. Selfish I know but I love the place and would hate to miss out.

I go to Glastonbury because it's just about the nicest place on earth, I agree with the earlier poster that the weather the previous year is more likely to put off those who are not Glasto diehards. I have been to every Glasto since about 93 and the lineup has never been a problem, but the mud has often made the festival really hard work.

I was disappointed Prince is not on the line up and I'm not a fan of Metallica, but them headlining has made a lot of people on here very happy, so enjoy ! There is just so much to do and see you can't be disappointed.

This is the first time I have ever failed to get tickets until the resale and you could put almost anyone on the pyramid stage and I would still be delighted to be going.

I don't think it's a great line-up, but so what? You can only see one thing at a time anyway. There are so many other factors that contribute to a good festival - you can have a 'poor' lineup and have a blast, or you can have a dream lineup and have the shits all weekend.

The line-up for T in 2013 was fucking awful but it was awful in a really populist, Radio 1, David Guetta sort of way…..T was/is increasingly a teenage nedfest. It's become a rite of passage for under-25s and older punters are getting sick of puddles of WKD blue flavoured vomit and gangs of falling-down pissed, "I'm off my tits, me" teenagers shoving past you so's they could get down the front for Rihanna. Increasingly, anyone who wants better music and a more relaxed atmosphere is going elsewhere.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
