Sigur Ros would be absolutely amazing but it'll unfortunately never happen. too niche to headline, but hopefully they'll be a Other Stage headliner in the next few years (still haven't got over them not doing it last year despite it looking incredibly likely early on)

You're right, of course, but a man can dream! ;)

Personally I'm really disappointed that Friendly Fires never delivered on their early promise. They've left it far too long between each album for them to make as much of an impact as they could.

And they wore shit trousers.

Musically though, yeah. I think BBC have kinda overtaken them with some similarities.

I keep seeing Bombay's name on this thread but I can't see them ever headlining. Forth album now, sure they are 'headlining' NME tent at R+L but really they are subbing because they finish before AM. If they are at glastonbury this year I expect them to sub the other stage, at this point in their careers isn't it a bit late. Suppose they could do a Biffy Clyro and release a 'many of horror' but I just can't see it

I'm not sure about BBC specifically, can't really see them headlining myself, but your logic that they're on their fourth album so it's too late is way off

Arcade Fire are on their fourth, Kasabian are just coming up to their fifth. If Foals do indeed step up to headliner status in the future it'll probably be on album number five. Not everyone gets big on one or two albums like Arctic Monkeys, some are in it for the long haul.

I saw Bombay Bicycle Club as someone who had no idea on their music. I'll admit to finding it uninspiring and boring. I decided to wander round the other stuff going on after a while. I think they'd make a pretty simple headliner if they ever reached that point. Bit like the Vaccines etc.

I reckon the internet makes it more difficult for bands to become massive, in days gone by, you liked whatever was in magazines or on the radio, whatever was on sale in shops that sold CDs. Today you can become a fan of literally absolutely anything extremely easily, so when the big massive indie bands come along, kids that would have been devotees if this was 1993 are streaming millions of albums, they have all the music in the world, so they're not going to become obsessed with that one Radiohead album because their budget only permits on CD a month and whatever tapes their lazy mates make them.

was expecting something a little… more. not bad, but not the storming single i was expecting

I reckon it's a grower to be honest.

When i first heard gold on the ceiling I thought it was a throwaway, and then after it being played everywhere that pretty much changed.

nah to me Lonely Boy and Gold On The Ceiling were immediately BIG songs. i'm sure this one will do well but i don't think it has the immediacy of those two songs. chorus is just a bit repetitive and hook-less

I actually prefer it being like this, reminds me abit of Do I Wanna Know

You expect it to be a fast single, but it's nice and slowed down, I quite like that's it isn't a fast song like Gold On The Ceiling or Loneley boy.
